At the basketball court in Chatham Forest (PBO), I saw yellow tape every where and someone said it involved some kids and guns.  Does anyone know what happened?

Wolfpack fan there was a group of individuals that do not live at Chatham Forest playing basketball, words were exchanged. PPD was on the scene before the fight broke out. The individuals were told to leave by PPD. HOA has closed off the basketball court until new rules and regulations are in place. The HOA has a detail police report if you have any other questions...

Thanks circlecity.  That sounds a lot more like kids being kids.

I'm glad law enforcement got their before any fight broke out.  This is where a little thing can turn out badly real easy these days.

I'm sorry the days are over when kids could go play pickup basketball with their friends and strangers on a local court. When my oldest was in high school (10+) years ago, I think he knew every basketball court in our half of the county, and he played basketball on all of them with his friends.

I'd think the court at CF would be for their residents/HOA and not for the general public to assume as a public park facility...but maybe a resident started a pick up game with friends that expanded?

The CF courts are rarely occupied by CF residents.  As a CF resident, I don't care if others use the courts as long as they don't litter.  The couple of times I've played there, I was the only resident or there was one more with me.  I've gone out there before and shot around by myself for hours without anybody showing up on the court, so it's not like the residents use it that much anyways.  It's a shame a fight broke out, and now I can't use the court on a lovely weekend.

Since I grew up in Pittsboro, I know how it is to try and find a decent spot to play basketball in this town.  The public courts were in horrible shape, but look better now.  Horton had dead spots all over the floor.  So my friends and I went to Chapel Hill neighborhoods or the UNC campus to play basketball.  If CF had been around when I was growing up, I know that CF would have been my spot to play ball even though I wouldn't have been a resident at that time.

The PBO courts are in good shape now.  There are also some rarely used behind Perry Harrison.
The new park right over the Orange county line should have some nice courts soon.
