Is it just me, or does anybody else start singing "Goodnight Irene" whenever they see the subject of this thread?

I thought I was the only one, Seavey!

Leadbelly is someone else that has a great children's album- a few of his songs became children's classics, and I've definitely noticed he has some pint-sized fans. It's very cute to see the next generation of blues fans rocking out to his stuff!

It got me the same way and ever since I've been wondering about the lyrics. I remember the following and am wondering if it was a parody or part of the original:

Sometimes she sleeps in pajamas, sometimes in her nightgown.
But when they're both in the laundry, Irene is the talk of the town.

Probably considered too racy to be part of the actual lyric back then.
