Has anyone else on the County (not Pittsboro City) water system noticed a swampy smell/taste to it lately?  I'm guessing that we're on the Bynum station's line, since that's only a mile or so away.   I don't know if it's too many chemicals or not enough, but it's noticeable.

i've learned that it eithersmells swampy or it smells like a chlorine/ammonia factory...neither of which periods makes it desirable to drink...or bathe in, it's what we have however and those little notices to tell you not to drink it long term Tongue Shocked

I've been wondering the same thing!  I live on Lystra and my water has been smelly for over a week.  The only way I can describe it is it smells almost mildewy.  I'm so looking forward to moving into my new house with my clean well water!

We live across the road from Bynum and have had no problem. Maybe there is an underground tank or something leeching into the soil. We test ours regularly and it is good. Hope you find an answer.

Moldy, musty smell with a taste like dirt is usually algae in the raw water, Jordan lake has had some nasty blooms. When Cary started using the lake water in the early 90's, they found out that carbon was a must. Chatham does use powdered activated carbon to help with total organic carbon removal, give them a call they should be able to increase the dose and help with the smell.

Do all you folks call Chatham County officials to complain? I'd be doing it every day if it were me. The more folks who complain regularly, the more likely someone might actually try to help you.

And if you get no satisfaction from the water folks, I'd try Charlie Horne. And if he fails you, I think it's time the County Commissioners heard about this latest problem. Every day. Until it's fixed.

We did a water test this morning and it was fine. We are on the Haw. Do not know what is up with the Bynum side as they are not far from us.
