We rode with up to 9 people either way. People need to give it a chance to catch on. North Carolinians are so used to taking their car they are spoiled. More care off the road the better!

she said 9. In case you aren't familiar with how a bus operates folks get on and off along the route, people don't all get on at the 1st stop and ride to the end of the line, so the number of folks will go up and down, but you probably already knew that it just doesn't jibe with the hissy fit you've prepared so you ignore her answer and hissy fit away.

Integrity... I said 9 and it is true.

If taxes are shared by all they are less all around. Simple economics. Just like I pay taxes for schools but I have no kids. Why, paying for all benefits society. NO I AM NOT A LIBERAL.

I also pay taxes for county infrastructure but am on well water and a gravel road, why be pissed? The bus will eventually benefit all!

How will it benefit all? It will only benefit those who travel the NE corridor to CH.

Having a "share-the-ride" program is not in the least inconsistent with having a bus service.  Both offer economic transportation and get some traffic off the roads.  The ultimate benefit from a successful bus route (or several, or light rail, etc. etc. etc.) will be less traffic, which all of us benefit from, except maybe the mechanics among us, who might possibly have slightly less repairs to make if cars are driven less and last a tad longer.

There's an ad from the world of freight-rail that I see frequently.  It states that rail transportation can carry one ton of material for some 430 miles on one gallon of fuel.  Perhaps this is rocket science, given the sad state of our reasoning abilities.  You do the math.  Consider what it would cost you to haul one ton of, say, bricks, in your trusty F-150, for the same distance.  Apply your new found knowledge to the bus.

I guarantee, on the other hand, that if the bus from Siler City to Pittsboro to Chapel Hill and back is not successful, that before long it will stop running.  I say this because this is how most things work in the world, be they private or public.  If UNC and NCSU are laying off large numbers of professionals because of financial constraints (and they are), a bus route will not be exempt should it be a failure.  Meanwhile, we are in the midst of a good faith effort to improve transportation in Chatham County and Orange County.

Oh, and a bad-faith effort by some to smear Mr. Voller, who thinks the bus is a good idea.

It eventually benefits all by sooner or later making more and more public transportation available for all if it succeeds. This is how major metropolitan areas grow services. We are by no means metrpolitan but this whole region is growing in leaps and bounds.
People need to give it time. Like I stated to someone else I do not like paying taxes for schools since I have no kids but hey educated kids benefit us all.

Mary I noted that you said you were not a liberal.  Thank you even more for being simply a reasonable person.  Have a great day.   Smiley

Thanks, I am very middle of the road though lean ever so slightly to the R. I have been accused of being ultra liberal for some reason.  Wink

Pay 'em no mind, Mary. Some folks on here are so far right they think a centrist Republican is a commie.

Mary, I am with you.  Give it time and the bus transportation system will work and grow.  Things do not happen over night.  This is the starting point and we all pay for things we don't use in this county.  I probably won't use the bus but maybe in the future it will come my way. I am glad we are finally moving forward as a county with public transportation.

Kudos to future seers out there. All public transportation begins somewhere. Between the Chapel Hill a5-501 corridor and Pittsboro connecting and the same on 64 to Apex it will come in handy. Thanks Barbara
