That whole list is a stretch.

The only reason we have the bus is that Chapel Hill Transit managed to get a federal grant for half the cost.

The sensible thing to do would have been to support Chatham Transit to build up their service with vans and build from there instead of jumping to full size buses.

Of course since half the money is coming from a grant, who cares what would be sensible.

EDC, Joe Glasson, was very excited and supportive of transit and the new Pittsboro Express service. (Joe is a lifelong Republican, a retired senior executive from Allstate, and later a founder of a large equity fund. Joe Glasson is a "private market guy" yet he understands why this is an "investment" and a critical component to our long term future.)

And Joe's stance is very similar to other Republicans in the 4th district, too, like Augustus Cho and Melodie Parish.
Best Regards,
Mayor Randy Voller

An intellectually dishonest argument called an "appeal to authority".
Throwing out one example of a "free market guy" who agrees with you means absolutely nothing, as there are plenty of "free market guys" who disagree with you.

Randy is trying to get you to believe that he knows the "smart" free market guys, and they support him, as opposed to the "dumb" free market guys who happen to disagree.  His pitiful attempt at bandwagoning just shows what a weak position he actually holds.

His argument that the bus and schools are unrelated is patently false (You LIE!).  They may not be linked on paper, but they were lumped together on the property tax bill I got a little while ago....
There's Randy's lie.  The "missing link" between the bus, the schools, the police department, the ABC store...  it is the taxpayer who is being taken from at every opportunity.  From my standpoint, they aren't different budgets, because they're all coming out of mine.  The fact that ABC money (which is tax money, duh!) is used to offset "bus money" means that ABC Money can not be used to offset any other, higher priority or broader benefit expense, up to and including my personal expenses by lowering my tax rate...

As to Belle's housekeeper...  for $360,000, there are several other alternatives to get her in to work than a big, gas guzzling bus.  I for one would volunteer to drive her personally for 1/2 of that amount.  There you go!  2 good jobs created!
