Our Petey the Boston Terrier is 12 1/2  years old.  Some of you have met our "grumpy old man" and know he is a sweet, snoring, farting, licking and gentle little dog.

A week or so ago, Petey started walking in circles.   Made me dizzy to watch him.  Poor old guy has a cataract that completely blinds his left eye and the right eye is growing one too.  He mostly sleeps - sort of like a cat. Smiley

I took him to the wonderful Hope Crossing Animal Hospital today for Dr Webster to give a look-see.  Dr. Webster and Amy are fabulous!!

Basically Petey has either had a stroke or has a brain tumor.  We will watch him for a week and contact them with any changes.  We may need to take him to the Vet School for a CT scan.

I type this in tears.  My grown children have been in tears too.

Folks, I ask for your prayers as we struggle with Petey and what to do next.

Oh Becky, I am so sorry. I know your angst! I'll say a prayer for all of you and for Petey that things will rebound and turn out ok.

Becky,
I am so sorry that Petey isn't feeling well.  Sad
Did Dr. Webster mention vestibular disease at all?
My cat had this so I did some reading on it a few years back.
One of the symptoms can be circling, and it tends to affect older dogs, 12-13.

This website explains it fairly well-
http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_vestibular_disease.html
This blog is good and has lots of comments following it by pet owners
http://lassiegethelp.blogspot.com/2008/01/vestibular-disease-leave-light-on.html
Just wondering if Petey could possibly have this and if so I am hoping that he will
begin to improve with time.  From reading, it can take even 3-4 weeks possibly.
Hugs to you and Petey and your family.

Thanks everyone!

Woodland, I also read up on vestibular disease when I was researching what could be wrong with Petey.  I started to ask about it but the Doc seems certain about the 2 possibilities.  Time will tell.

And just so y'all know, Petey doesn't seem to be in any pain at all.  He's happily passed out on the love seat snoring away as usual.  He'll be napping there tomorrow with darling Sophia who calls him "Bill."

Happy to hear that Petey is comfortable and napping!
Glad that you checked out the vestibular disease stuff already.
It just came to mind and didn't want to be pushy but felt like it
was something I wanted to let you know about, in case it might
be helpful in some way.
Warm wishes and thoughts to Petey and your family.

I hope Petey is having a good day, many dogs live the life of luxury and pampering and I am sure he is being spoiled more and more.
