Most all of us can relate to working to make a living. When you support someone's business, it's a way of showing that you wish them well. To me that's a reason not to let politics decide who I do business with. Most people appreciate their customers, and you can cut through a lot of misconceptions and preconceptions without any mention of politics, religion or anything else controversial.

Oh, gosh, I'm sorry about your husband, Shot of Spro. I have relatively mild asthma/allergies to stuff like that, and it is tiring to deal with. Once I was stuck on a plane with someone doing her fingernails, and there was nowhere to hide from all the chemicals. That was not a fun experience, but it was not life threatening. I'm glad it sounds like he was taken good care of, anyway.

I think what's most interesting about the all the replies here, aside from the well deserved show of support for you guys, is who *hasn't* posted. Given the predictability and consistency of some of the regulars on this list, I think it's obvious who you were speaking to. What's really unfortunate, and sad, is how many people there are who can only view the world through the lens of politics and/or religion. There's so much more to life than Democrat vs Republican, Liberal vs Conservative, Christian vs Muslim, Left vs Right, Us vs Them, and on and on and on. You get the picture. There's so much good from so many people and places. How much of that do people miss because of their inability to be bigger than, or see past, their beliefs? It's time to wake up.

I will attest to the accuracy of the no politics claims here. I was a big fan of their coffee when they were serving it out of the Unity Bookstore, and I've sought out their coffee from the Shot Of 'Spro van whenever I can find it.
I asked them if they might want to show up at the polling place because it might be a good place to be, and I selfishly wanted to have some of their product on a morning when coffee would have been especially welcome.
This was not a donation of any kind to my campaign. They were, in fact, offering free coffee to all the candidates there.
If anybody construes this as some sort of political gesture on their part, they are sorely mistaken. My support of their business is based on my love of good coffee, espescially if it is laced with caffiene.
Shot Of 'Spro is a local business, and supporting local business should be a Pittsboro bipartisan priority.

... and smell the coffee. (sorry, couldn't resist.) I like the spirit of your reply, although I'm not sure about it being obvious who offended Tina (based on who *hasn't* posted to this thread), since very little information was provided in her original post. I do hope that the old Pittsboro Ford location is very successful for them!!!! -murph

Thanks Claude Bowles! Thanks Bill Crawford!
I must brag...it is probably the finest tasting coffee in Chatham. Not only does Tommy pick the finest beans, but he gets them within hours after they were roasted and tries to keep them no longer than two weeks. He also grinds and brews them fresh on-site so you are getting the best taste of the bean. Of course I'm partial, but judge for yourself. I'm still in training on it all, but Tommy has been doing this personally for years from home. He is very knowledgeable about all aspects of coffee, our other products, the equipment, making the products, etc.
Yes, Bill did invite us. He is one of our #1 fans and Tommy knew him when he worked at Espresso Brazil. We were there to support him as a FRIEND not a politician. Tommy was very appreciative that Bill invited us. Politics didn't even cross our minds. Bill was 100% correct in his post above.
Shoot...I've known Randy Voller for years. I worked with him on real estate matters back when I worked with Holmes & McLaurin. We judge and take noone's side - we don't care who they are or what they represent. If they are a customer of ours, we treat them the same as anyone.
What got me hot...someone at the election site at CCCC assumed we were there to promote "a candidate" and we were investigated. It made us very uncomfortable so we left. We don't want any sour taste left in anyone's mouth because we were there without "official" permission. The lady that investigated us was nice to talk too. We meant no harm; we aren't even Pittsboro residents! It just burns me that people made assumptions about us over politics.
I won't even get into the details about the brick walls and red tape we have hit. Anyone who runs a small business knows what I'm talking about. We are as small of a business as you can get. Our average ticket sale is only $2.00!
Thanks to everyone for your support. It truly means a lot.

Spro people, do you have teas? Chai maybe? I'm a tea drinker and would love to find someone local who doesn't just dunk a bag of dregs and call it tea, or open a carton of chai. Fresh spices make a lot of difference. Maybe something to think about?

Yes, we do have teas! We sell the Numi product (list below). Tommy is also getting Monkey Jasmine tea.
Berry Black Breakfast Blend Chamomile Lemon Decaf Black Dry Desert Lime Earl Grey Ginger Sun Golden Chai Gunpowder Green HoneyBush Rooibos White Vanilla Nectar
And...we also have the Chai (vanilla, spiced or chocolate). The Chai can be done hot or frozen (blended). You can also add an espresso shot which is called a Chai Charger. If you add the DECAF espresso shot, it is called a Chai De-charger. One other thing...we've seen people add a syrup to their chai drink. We had one person get a vanilla chai with 3 pumps of pumpkin spice syrup. We have never heard of that one before. I tried it and it was good. You learn a lot from your customers.

It's true: I knew "Tina Meeks" when she was "Tina Teufel" and worked at the law offices of Holmes & McLaurin many moons ago.
As for local businesses, we are all on the same team and should do our best to support local businesses. Bill Crawford and I were at the polls when they opened and a number of folks availed themselves in the morning of their excellent coffee.
I left the polls at different junctures during the day and when I arrived back in the early afternoon their vehicle was gone. I called Tina to ascertain what had occurred and apparently there was some issue with CCCC and the BOE. I told Tina that I would be happy to assist them with any issues they had in the Town of Pittsboro
It is imperative that we work as a community to enourage and assist small businesses through the process of opening a business and look to find equitable solutions rather than create barriers.
Good luck and keep going.
Best Regards,
Mayor Randy Voller

We took the Lowe's exit looking for you yesterday morning, but you were nowhere in site (long ride to Raleigh afterwards). We found you this morning. Great cup of coffee, and smoothie. Good luck in your new location...
