Like others said, if someone can't take the slings and arrows of hte BBS, their skin is too thin to be in politics. Besides, it's not like the BBS has some huge following that's very influential in the county. It's basically one or two dozen of us talking to each other here.

I think you would be surprised how many people read the BBS. It does have over 1500 members + guests. Now I agree that a couple dozen of us do most of the posting.

There was a guy a few years ago that came up with what he called the 1% Rule in online communities. If you get 100 people online, only 1 will create content, 10 will interact with it (commenting or offering improvements) and the remaining 89 will simply view it. Looks like this BBS gives credence to that theory.

I've learned to largely bypass many of the threads here not because I have any sort of thin skin at all (my closest friends would be laughing at the idea of that), but because many of the threads here are furthered in a way that is fostered by their anonymity.
I think the conversation here would be more constructive if everybody here was required to post under one IP address and have their real name attached.
Too much time is spent here with people guessing who is saying what. I don't have time for that. While I understand that the person who is so fond of popping in here under the moniker "Truth" probably doesn't have much respect for me, I have better things to do than spend one minute worrying about what they say behind the wall of anonymity, or why. I'll save that for when they have the cuevos to say something to my face.
The internet is chock full of faux courage nuts like that. Why add to it here?
