All of the candidates worked hard and it was great to have a positive day at the polls.  For the first time in all of the elections I have been involved with we all went inside together and received the results as a group.  Although he was my opponent and I wanted to win, it was difficult for me see Bill Crawford hear the results. We both wanted to win and after a 15 hour day one of us would soon be disappointed.  After the results were announced, we spoke and shook hands and wished each other well.

It was even more difficult in the other race, since I am friends with Andrew, Mike and Pam. No one wants to see a friend lose especially when they are all so qualified.

Pittsboro had a great night and we will start working with the new board in December.

Best Regards,

Mayor Randy Voller

Has the run for state senate seat started already?

I'm enjoyng the crocodile tears that the Mayor sheds for me, but I walked into this with my eyes wide open, and enjoyed the workout I gave, and made him go through.

The issues that caused me to run are still there, and I will not going silent on them any time soon.

I enjoyed the fact that the race was cleaner and more positive than many people expected, given the recent history of politics here. That was a conscious choice on my part, and Randy may have followed it because he thought it might backfire on him, or he thought I wasn't worth the trouble. Either way, the town was better for it.

I also would like to thank the people who supported me. I won't go into detail here, because they will be hearing from me in more appropriate forums soon.

Finally, I would like to add that the Board candidates who I had the privilege of talking with are all good people, however I may disagree with them. I hope to stay in contact with all of them in the future. We all have Pittsboro's future at heart, and politics should stop at the water's edge.

By the way, Mayor, is it policy for you to be ferried about in a Town vehicle by a Town employee, cleaning up your political signs?

If not, will I get my share of the money back for the salary and gasoline any time soon?

I'll be waiting to see the reimbursement in your final campaign finance disclosure.

You can call it bitterness, but this is a serious accusation.  Hopefully, an inquiry has been sent to the town manager.

Well, I guess we'll have two things to remember Crawford for. He was afraid to debate his opponent in an open forum and he's a really bad loser.

I have nothing but respect for the election process, and I have no complaints about the way everything turned out. We borked worked like the dickens, and he won. Hence, my concession handshake, freely offered as soon as the votes were tabulated.

I will not bite at the "afraid to debate" musings passed around here like saltwater taffy for the last month. Those who know me actually find those notions as amusing and inaccurate as I do.

If you think holding the Mayor to the rules regarding campaign spending is "bitter", that's your loss. That's my tax money he's spending doing that, and calling him on it is civic engagement, pure and simple.

It's typical of this bulletin board for some contributors to take something like that and turn it into some sort of personal deficiency. I will not return that favor, now or ever.

There are many responses that a stand up guy could make.  "I'm enjoyng the crocodile tears that the Mayor sheds for me" isn't one of them.  There are many places to voice complains about appearant misuse of town funds for campaign activities (the BOE comes to mind or, at the very least, a new thread).  To post it here makes you look like a sore loser.  If you want to be a force for good in the town, and I assume that you do, IMO you would be better served by stopping and thinking before you hit "post."

I believe the rules of this BBS dictate that the participants of this forum do not knowingly post false and/or misleading information.  (Opinions are different from an alleged fact.)

None of us have the time to address all of the opinion driven dialogue let alone half truths and false statements.

Unfortunately, two of my former opponents, Mr. Crawford and Mr. Bradshaw have done so today on this forum. I can only assume that Mr. Crawford has made a mistake that he he will correct ASAP.  My BROTHER-IN-LAW and I passed Mr. Crawford this morning on Chatham Forest Drive in a Ford F-250 that my company OWNS while we were picking up our campaign signs. In the space of few hours he has now concocted a falsehood that disparages not only me but also our Town by mistaking my truck for a Town vehicle and my family member for a Town employee.

Mr. Crawford, I respectfully request that you apologize and Mr. Bradshaw I request that you do the same.

Thank you.

Regards,

Mayor Randy Voller

What did I post that was false or misleading?  Heck I even called it an accusation.

And to show I am being fair, Mr. Terry (town manager) confirmed that Voller Construction does own a white pick up with an emblem on the side that could be mistaken for a county vehicle.

Chris,
It is serious to make a false statement and I appreciate your correction. Bill could have avoided this by merely calling me.
