Backup quarterback Harold Baldwin had to step in for starter Sam Griffin. Harold scored on a 2-yard quarterback sneak on fourth down in double overtime, leading the Chargers to a 6-0 win over Cedar Ridge. The win secured the Northwood Chargers second place in the Carolina Nine 1A/2A conference. Baldwin the hero in OT for NorthwoodRead the entire article at http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/story/179225.htmlWith the score tied 0-0 at the end of regulation, Northwood (10-1, 3-1) got the ball first. The Chargers couldn't move the ball past the 10-yard line and missed a 29-yard field goal that would have given them the lead. But Cedar Ridge (7-4, 2-2) failed to take advantage. The Red Wolves ran the ball down to the 1-yard line, but on fourth-and-goal decided against trying a field goal. They tried a Jake Geary run instead that ended with a fumble in the end zone.

Aaaaarrrgghhh...... Congratulation Chargers!........
I have a hard time with this new conference alignment. Carolina Nine.....with only four (4) conference games for the entire season. Tough to be 10-1 and second place.
The Conference Champions are South Granville. They are 8-3. They are 4-0 in conference play. They happened by when we had a quadruple dose of turnoveritis....so they account for our one loss and it sealed our fate. No chance for even a share of the Championship. Hence my Aaaaaaarrrggghhhh. Oh well.......
Great Season, so far though. All the best in the playoffs Chargers!

Video from Northwood vs Cedar Ridge double overtime on YouTube A couple of folks from Cedar Ridge were not happy that their coach opted to have his son attempt to run in a Touchdown in the first overtime. Their kicker is apparently pretty good and he was unlikely to miss what was essential a PAT. The player fumbled the football and Northwood recovered. This led to a second overtime, in which Harold Baldwin reached across the goal line with the football to win the game, 6 - 0.
