I'm sorry - but talk about a photo op. Why couldn't he quietly go and honor these soldiers? Why have the press broadcast it? Out of the 18 returning only 1 family agreed to have the casket photographed.

Appearing to promote a book and the President appearing to honor lost soldiers is a bit different. Of course it seems strange to see caskets of troops, be it locally or from abroad. After all, their appearance was virtually banned by Bush, so as to not remind us...

I like seeing our President display his tribute to those under his command. 

Sarah Palin is like any other author (with a ghostwriter) on a book tour.  She's not an elected official anymore.  Why isn't she just making an appearance in Fayetteville at Borders or Barnes & Noble or Books a Million? Because Ft Bragg is a PHOTO OP!!!!!!  duh.

I was FAR from agreement in occupying Iraq and sending our troops on that goose chase. I do think it was dishonorable by our former "decider", that he ignore the casualties of his decision upon their return.

They didn't lose because of Palin, they lost because McCain is a moderate who ran against a candidate who ran a campaign to the right of him.

I know some "old guard" Republicans (i.e. not neo-cons) could not stand Palin.  They were okay with McCain but baffled by and totally against the choice of flighty, airheaded Palin.  Who in their books and mine is a QUITTER!!!

Truthfully, this book tour is going to make or break her.   Some of her poor showings in interviews early on can be excuse by nativity.   This time around that excuse is off the table.
