Col Totten,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, in hopes you will recover soon and we see you back at Northwood.
You are a strong man and have helped Northwood become the Northwood that it is today.  Many thanks for everything.

Try to get back and enjoy some soocer and basketball-you old fart.

Take care and remember we are here for you if needed.

Not to get too personal, but is he ok?   I have not heard anything.

The Colonel is my sweet and thoughtful friend. He needs our prayers at this time. He has received a diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer and will be stepping down from the board. I received this from another friend earlier this week:

Gerald currently serves on the Chatham County Board of Education and will be resigning his position in the near future due to health problems.

Gerald has dealt with a number of health problems this year. Today, he was told that he has stage 4 lung cancer that has spread into his bones, lymph nodes and pancreas. He will be meeting with the doctors in the near future to find out the plans for treatment.

Gerald is still trying to regain his strength from bypass and valve replacement surgery that he had in May of this year.

Please remember Gerald and his wife, Barbara, as they deal with the news of this situation and the days ahead

Natv - he wants to have this reported, as to ensure that we all know he is sticking to his campaign promises - isn't that just like him, too? Bless his HEART!! Smiley  He told me this firsthand. I know him well and assure you he needs all of our prayers.

I can be good with that Chathambooks, if the family gave you leeway to report to the public, these health issues. I am not making anything political out of it, just family privacy concerns statement on my part.
As I said best to he and his family in this difficult time...been there done it!

My family's prayers are with Colonel Totten and his wife.

I will be adding his name to our church's prayer list.

You are one of a kind Col.  Always faithful to the cause, whatever it was.
Thank you for all the hours, days, months and years you gave to Chatham Co. and the world beyond.
I'll be praying for you and Barbara.

Very upsetting news.
Col. Totten is the best thing to have happened to the school board.
He will be in my prayers.

This is a terrible blow to our community. He is a good public servant, who actually cares, as demonstrated by a life of service.  We owe him a debt of gratitude for his service over many years, both in our military and in our county.  May God bless him.
