Gene, I'm curious about the posting of the police blotter. Is this something you do routinely or only when there is a person that is well known or what? I don't recognize any of the folks listed in this blotter and going through several pages of old posts I couldn't help but notice it doesn't seem to be a regular thing you include on your bulletin board. What about those people is noteworthy, other than they were arrested?

Gene has posted the police blotter many times.  He is not singling out anyone, it is part of his reporting on the happenings of Chatham County.

Are these the only 5 folks arrested since summer? i went back as far as june and didn't see another "police blotter" posted. Thanks for your opinion wpf, but i'd like to know Gene's reasoning on this not your opinion of it.

Previous blotter posts

I post chathamcentric items that different search applications find.

Gene, i still don't understand the criteria you are using. The link to the search you posted showed several "police blotters" posted over the years. Maybe one every 6 months? My question is what makes these 5 folks newsworthy? A few dui's, a failure to appear, injury to personal property(sounds like vandalism) and a possesion of marijuana charge. Why not make this a monthly, if not weekly, feature? Surely lots of folks were arrested in chatham county for dui and failure to appear between 2/09 and 11/09. Why let all those folks slide and not these? Like i said i don't recognize any of the arrested. Just wondering.

Maybe there's a lot less of a conspiracy to this than you think, Clyde.

He might just post when he gets around to it and there is no malice behind it.

Why that didn't occur to you first, and why you immediately jumped to the conclusion that he might be singling people out tells us something about you doesn't it?

conspiracy? i never said he was singling anyone out. i said i didn't recognize any of the names and asked Gene to give some insight into the reasoning about the why and when aspects of these posts. you guys sure are defensive about this. is there someone on that list everyone should recognize? some particularly heinous crime committed? I'm just curious as i stated before but by all means get defensive on Gene's behalf and call me a conspiracy theorist that is accusing Gene of singling folks out.

I imagine the posts are sporadic because his search applications only get hits sporadically. The latest one is from today's Sanford Herald:

that link to the SH has previous "police beat" listings for the past month or so and has 15 or so more folks from chatham county who were arrested but they weren't posted here, so there goes that theory.

It sure seemed that was what you were saying.

The whole bit about recognizing a person certainly would be singling someone out.

And to be fair, you're the one that has suddenly gotten defensive.

thanks for being so fair, but actually i said i didn't recognize any of the persons listed.

"Gene didn't single anyone out" came from wpf, then beeljr parroted the same attributing it to me

"i imagine" came from mary

"he might..." beeljr

"it seems to me", came from beeljr

and i never accused Gene of being malicious just for the record

only Gene knows what his criteria is or if these are just random periodical posts, that's why i addressed my question to him. he has declined to give any actual insight into his thought process, which is his perogative, and the rest from you and mary and wpf is conjecture, speculation and assumption. no biggie

My post was half fact and half assumption.

PS. Speaking of assumptions, when did Gene decline to offer the insight you want.  Maybe (another opinoin after I said I would stop) he is off doing one of the 50 other things he does for this county and does not know you have not been satisfied yet.

before he ran for BOE, and otherwise got real busy, Gene used to post every day with Chatham articles.

then he posted he was re-organizing his priorities. around that time, he posted a lot less. maybe he didn't need to, because the BBS provided enough of its own threads. whatever.

I miss the old police blotter threads, and everything Gene posted about Chatham. the local media ignore us pretty thoroughly.
