Things are going great now that I have determined that she is a little escape artist !! She sleeps with me and pretty much is queen of the house. Did you do everything you could to locate the previous owner? She is such a good dog she just had to have been a family pet. I sure enjoy having her. Yet it is unsettling to think someone may be looking for her.

I am sure it is a bit of a quagmire for you to take this animal in and then possibly discover that it has an "owner". I hope all works out for the best for this dog.
I know as well, if it turns out that she remains with you, she has a deserved loving home...

There has not been one peep from a possible owner. I would say that it is settled that Ramona is now the owner. She did not keep the name Mabel, though, so I still have that for my next little girl.  I favor those old southern belle type names. Had a Samantha, and a Sophie already, and a Pearl.  (Okay, don't use this against me, but she was actually a cat and I wrote her name Purr'l, as if anyone cared, but pronounced it Pearl.)

Kind of like Hazel and Hattie too as potential names.  But may not use them for a good while.  Charlie and Cassie have a good many years left, and the boys, Chef, Paco, and J.D. do too.  They do not mind the girls of course, but some of the girls can be a little snippy with them.

My four footed, canine babies are Zachery, Jacob, Ralphie, Lucky, and Rowdy for the boys, and Alexis, Ladybug, Lucy, Nicholette, and Lil' Bear for the girls.

The one feline is Bob, the Terrorist Cat.

Agree that Ramona is now officially the Mom of said beagle pup!
I'm just so glad it worked out so well for the dog (being rescued from danger) and for Ramona, in search of a pet.
I have a neighbor that has a miniature beagle. That dog is adorable!
