Trooper Anthony E. Scott...was reassigned last month from Siler City to Charlotte.

Scott was at the Pittsboro home of lawyer Jennifer Andrews on Aug. 14 when when her estranged husband, real estate broker Eric Andrews, pointed a gun at her, choked her and threatened her life, authorities said.

What a mess.  I'd heard that the trooper was married as well... If he still is, now his family is probably going to be disrupted due to the re-assignment.

How many families is this going to ruin?

Actually, the saga has been quite dormant.

Has there been any court/trial activity on the case?   If not have dates been set?  If so, what have the results been?

Trooper Who Was At Woman's Home During Attack, Demoted
http://www.digtriad.com/news/local_state/article.aspx?storyid=135465

Quantcast

Raleigh, NC-- North Carolina Highway Patrol officials say a trooper who was at a woman's home when she was attacked has been demoted and transferred.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reports Thursday that Anthony Scott was reassigned last month from Chatham County to Charlotte. Commander Randy Glover called it a personnel matter he could not discuss. Court documents show Scott was a target of the woman's estranged husband. Eric Andrews faces assault and kidnapping charges. He is accused of threatening to kill her, Scott and himself in August, then driving off with their children. Andrews' lawyer would not comment.

Patrol officials confirmed a trooper was on duty at the Pittsboro home during the assault in August, but not on official business.

Scott has appealed his demotion.

From the Charlotte Observer at http://www.charlotteobserver.com/breaking/story/1165020.html

Patrol officials confirmed that a trooper on duty was at the Pittsboro home during the assault, and not on official business. There's no indication in the court records or in a domestic violence complaint filed by Jennifer Andrews that the trooper acted to protect her or the Andrews' two young children, who were at the home during the confrontation.

The previous two patrol commanders fired troopers who were caught in affairs on duty. Through a spokesman, Glover said that he has not wavered on that policy.

Patrol spokesman Capt. Everett Clendenin said there's no policy that dictates that a trooper be fired simply for being with someone while on duty.

"Sex on duty is a firing offense, and we're not backing off on that," Clendenin said. "The key word is proven."

He would not address the question of whether Scott could have intervened with Eric Andrews.

In June, Gov. Bev Perdue pushed out the previous commander and appointed Glover commander. In 1987, Glover was caught in an off-duty extramarital affair off duty with a Harnett County sheriff's dispatcher, causing him to be transferred to a station in New Bern, Perdue's hometown.

Perdue has said the affair is irrelevant when it comes to Glover's abilities to lead the Highway Patrol.

From the News & Observer at http://www.newsobserver.com/politics/story/271979.html

A Raleigh lawyer representing a trooper fired in 2008 for showing a photo of a young boy doctored to show him with an abnormally large penis said Scott appeared to have gotten a break.

"The inference I draw from this," said the lawyer, Woody Webb, "is either the trooper was engaged in some nefarious activity with this lady, or he did not act appropriately in exercising his duties as a law-enforcement official and he was therefore demoted. It was clearly a combustible situation that had violence written all over it, a weapon involved, and yet he's demoted, while my client, who has one lapse of judgment in a 19-year career, is dismissed."

Troopers fooling around both on and off duty have created a black eye for the 1,800 member patrol - so much so that two years ago, the state paid $98,000 for an independent review of the patrol's personnel practices. One of the problems, the report found, was a lack of supervision.

Scott was demoted from master trooper, which pays a salary of $56,330, to trooper, which pays $48,983.

Scott could not be reached for comment. Jennifer Andrews declined to comment.

State personnel law allows public officials to keep secret many of the details involving employee misconduct. But state agency heads have the discretion under the law to disclose those details when an agency's integrity is at stake.

The News & Observer has asked Young, the Crime Control secretary, to release the records. Patrol spokesman Clendenin said Young will not take up the request until he handles Scott's appeal.

Why does this have that tabloid feel to it?  I wish we could let them handle this, and show some restraint.  These are good people going through a difficult time, and I would let them work it out without public gossip.

If this story was about Randy Voller this board would be going ballistic.  The hypocritical double standard of this board is well intact and will remain so.  This board is the sole proprietorship of the Chatham County Republican Party and the conservative voice.

I agree. Anybody remember "innocent until proven guilty"? Mr. Andrews has been publicly "hung" before the trial. Remember, HE said, SHE said !!!!! And we all know the media is ALWAYS right (yeah)

Obviously, the Trooper was reassigned and demoted based on an internal investigation. (radio transmissions give locations). That had to do with the SHP. He's not on trial. I don't believe he went to jail. Mr. Andrews is on trial and did go to jail. But does anyone other than HE and SHE (the Andrews) know what really happened? I doubt it.

He was (is) an outstanding member of society before these allegations. If proven innocent, many people will just remember what they heard or read. Cut the guy some slack. (No, I'm not his bud, I've only met the man twice)

These are good people? Good people dont cheat on their spouses. These are selfish people who had no respect for their spouses or their kids. A trooper should be held to a higher standard than what he has displayed. They are now paying the price for their selfishness. I hope the temporarry gratification was worth it.
