Lots of emergency vehicles heading toward the Hamlet Chapel Road end. Looks like the falling temps have turned all the water into black ice.

How about where ya'll live?

When I went out before sunrise, it was just water on the steps/drive, plants in the flower pot. NOW, it is glazed over on all!

Hit a few ice spots this morning - a few cars off the road -
Just have to try and roll over the icy spots for sure, don't touch gas or brakes.

I heard there was a Jeep Wrangler off the road on the Manns Chapel curve near Andrews Store.  That curve gets people even w/o the weather's help.

That's always a treacherous curve when the roads are bad.

There were a bad accidents on Mann's Chapel and Andrew's Store Road in the vicinity of Woods Charter. Very scary. Anyone know the details on either?

Chatham Schools and Woods Charter should have followed the lead of other school systems and aired on the safe side. Of course, two hour delays have probably been really problematic in Orange and Alamance, since the refreezing started later.

I'm not surprised. People fly down those roads, one hand on the wheel and one holding the cell phone. Hmm?
Wonder if going tto fast for road conditions had anything to do with it Wink

I drove through just after the accident happened. I pulled up the road (towards 15/501) and got out of the car to slow cars down. Coming from 15/501 you couldn't see the accident (or the ice) around the corner.  I'm standing in the middle of the road waving my arms to get people's attention and some drivers just sped by not paying attention at ALL.  It took Emergency services about 20 minutes to arrive.  There also was a woman in a Toyota pickup who slid of the road.

I can't imagine what ASR will be like with TWO schools on it! It's a 45 mph zone. I have had people come up behind me and about run all over me.
It's dangerous on it even when dry, especially since they threw out all that loose gravel they called paving!

jkjs, thanks for your good samaritanship! That's not good that the wait for EMS was that long. I wonder if they were very busy this morning?

Yes, JkJs, thanks. If it was where I suspect it was, it is a blind curve both directions. One has to be careful though, when trying to flag people to slow down. I found that people are oblivious to their surroundings, when I did the same thing once.
Busy? Yes, an accident on Mann's Chapel, Jack Bennett and Andrews Store Rd. that I know of. Bound to have been others. I hope no serious injuries.
Still ice patches in the shady areas at 2 PM!

jkjs .. now you know what us towers go thru when clearing those accidents from the highway feel like.

We are just moving targets for those who do not pay attention to the highway when driving.

Any improvement on Jack Bennett or any other roads?

Did the ice evaporate at all this afternoon or is there still a lot of it out there?

Thanks for any info.
