I read in the Chatham Record that a Japan Express is coming to Bellemont Station in Pittsboro. Actually I wrote the story, but that is beside the point. Has anyone ever eaten at one of their locations? I just wanted to know how good it was. BTW, it will be located behind the McDonald's.

I don't go to Chapel Hill much anymore, but I used to visit the Japan Express at Village Plaza once every month or two. Pretty tasty food, and it fills a small vacuum in the market. I approve!

I ate at Neo-Japan in the shopping center at the intersection of 54 and 751 today, and their menu (and even the ticket) is identical to that at the Village Plaza Japan Express.
I eat at one or the other at least once every couple of weeks. The locations are convenient, the food's nothing fancy, but good. I don't know if you'll get many folks coming from Siler City specifically to eat there, but if you're in the area at lunch time or dinner time, it'd be worth a stop.

I've never eaten at Japan Express, but love sushi and other Japanese dishes. This is a good thing!

We eat at the one in Chapel Hill quite often. They have very good food. Just keep in mind that it's semi fast food, they cook it after you order it. It's no flaming volcano of onion rings cooked at your table, but you don't pay for that either. The only complaint we have now is that it's going to be too close to pass up on the way home from work.

Since there isn't a really decent Oriental/Asian alternative nearby, this could be a good thing.

We have eaten at the Chapel Hill/Elliot Road location a few times. kstraughn hits the nail on the head - decent semi-fast food. No sushi. You can go to Harris Teeter for that I think.

Shooter - I find the Cole Park chinese acceptable, but not something I eat all that regularly. But I do give it an OK judgement.
SB - Bellemont is the location of the Carolina Brewery, Snap Fitness and a few others to the right of the Lowes Hardware and behind McDonalds.
I'm VERY HAPPY to hear about another option in Pittsboro for Asian-style food. I'd REALLY like to hear of a little sushi bar opening in town, but I imagine that it'll be a while.

Marty, we're spoiled by other good Chinese places. I've eaten there several times over the years and I've just never been impressed with it. I try once a year and to me, it just doesn't get any better.
We used to love China Chef in Eastgate until they were run off by management. It was by far the best and most consistent place in town for years. Now that it's gone, we go to China Wok in Carrboro Plaza. It's almost as good.
Anything that improves the dining choices in Chatham is fine by me.
