What is up with Basset-Beagles on the loose this week?!

Our neighbors Josh and Elise rang our bell to ask if this old guy is ours

Nope, not ours.  They found him wandering down Pleasant Court off of Mann's Chapel.  He appears to be an older guy with "gray" on his face amd is definitely well-fed.  He's a heifer heavy one to be sure!

Josh and Elise agreed to keep him over night.   If he's yours or you know to whom he belongs please give them a call:

Josh - 315-256-8585
Elise - 908-892-7341

They have two cats so they can't keep Butkus* more than a night or two. And Shooter says I can't have another dog.Sad

*I "named" him Butkus cause he is linebacker strong and hard to move! heehee

Aw, someone is surely frantic over their missing chunky little geezer.  Glad he has found safety and shelter from the cold.

I'm pretty sure that's "Dino".  He wanders the neighborhoods around there.  He lives across Mann's Chapel from the Peppertree subdivision.  VERY sweet dog.

Carrie, do you know the owners?  We got home just a while ago and I haven't checked to see if anyone called Josh and Elise.

bassets and beagles are famous wanderers, they follow their noses and know no fear. they leave the fear part to their owners.

I've "rescued" that dog from Manns Chapel myself.  On Manns Chapel, across from Peppertree is about right.  The owners just let him roam.

No, I don't know the owners.  I'm sure if they took him back to that area, he would find his way home just fine.  He's a sweetie.

If you're going down Manns Chapel toward the Hamlets Chapel intersection and pass Peppertree on the right, Dino's house is the second on the left after Dover Rd. I think the street address is 420. We've met his family a few times when they drive around looking for him. He's a neighborhood fixture and favorite of all the kids (aka Jack, Mr. Wiggles, Goofball...)

Thanks all!  Dino/Butkus/Jack/Mr. Wiggles/Goofball snuck out of Josh & Elise's house late yesterday afternoon and apparently went home.  They have a doggie door that  is supposed to opened only by humans but Dino is smart.

Do his humans have a fence for him?  Are they perhaps elderly and/or just not understand how dangerous it is for Dino to roam?  I really want to be nice here.  I know many dogs are escape artists but this one sounds like a repeat offender.  Can we do something to help keep him safer?
