Varsity Boys Basketball Defeats Raleigh Charter 75-54

The Varsity Boys Basketball team used strong offensive performances in the second and third quarter to pull away from an improved Raleigh Charter team 75-54 Friday, February 5 at Northwood High School. Behind the sharpshooting of John Wieland who scored 14 points, including two three-pointers, and 14 points off the bench by Ryan Epps the Chargers opened up what was a closer game than expected throughout the second and third quarters. Dylan Davis and Ridge Smith also scored in double figures with 10 points a piece, while A.J. Farmer added 8 points and a team high 5 rebounds. Juan Young added three assists and three steals in the victory.

The win Friday night by the Charger boys sets the stage for a showdown for the Carolina 9 Conference title tonight versus Cedar Ridge at 7:30 here at Northwood. With a win tonight, the Chargers will be in position to tie for the conference regular season championship if they win their other two games this week over teams they have previously defeated this season.
