the Panda Garden at Chatham Crossing is good, and fast. just watching them work is amazing. most of it is done to order, in real time, from scratch.

Panda Garden at Cole Park Plaza is one of the better ones within just a short distance drive from Pittsboro.

They always have an excellent sanitation rating, and their food is quite good as well.

The Mayflower is in Siler City, on 64, near Belk.

I do not like panda garden at. all.  their hot and sour soup and eggrolls both taste like dirty dishwater.

I have certain favorites I will order at Panda Garden, that are routinely good. Have had some things I thought could have been better. Clean/ good ratings and they are friendly service.
Mayflower in Siler is the best all around there IMO. Gone there for years, when over that direction.

uhm, I don't?  I went a few times to try a few different things and give them a fair shot, but frozen from the grocery store is better, imo.

I go by Panda Garden about once a year and it just doesn't do anything for me. We go to China Wok in Carrboro. That might be a little more of a drive than you want, but the food is good.

When I worked in CH, I'd grab Wok, unless I went to 35 for the pig out laugh But I just despise going into C. Hill anymore.
I like Panda's Moo Goo pretty well. But, I hold out for my Chinese craving, when I go to Siler to visit a relative and go to Mayflower when looking for the non-fancy version meal.

We always ate at China Chef in Eastgate. It was the best. We're still mad they had to close.

Personally I don't mind the one by Food Lion.  It's not going to win any awards.  But it's not terrible either.

I agree. The China Inn is unlikely to achieve a Mobil 5-Star rating anytime soon, but the food is decent and the location convenient. Their Szechuan beef is actually quite good.

Thanks for the China Wok recommendation... can't wait to try it!

Our favorite place for Chinese food in the triangle is China Express (on Hwy 54, just west of the intersection at Hwy 54/55 in RTP).  We were regulars there for close to 15 years.  Food is delicious, friendly staff, portions are huge, and you can order the lunch combination plates for dinner (same low price!).  It was a good little drive to get there from Raleigh, but from Pittsboro, it's quite the haul.

As for China Inn in PBO, after exploring the menu a bit, here are my recommendations:

1) Their chicken wings are probably the best fast-food deal in town. Good size, great flavor, and cheap.  But eat them in the restaurant as soon as they come out of the fryer.  Even better if you smear some hot Chinese mustard on them...  awesome!   (Just don't let your cardiologist see you walking out the door with greasey hands.)

2) Their pork fried rice is some of the best I've had - anywhere.  Aside from having a ton of meat in the dish, the flavor is really good.  The small portion is enough for 1-2 people.  The large portion is enough for 2 + leftovers (and it reheats very well).

Somehow the Healthy Choice "Turkey Medallions" that I brought for lunch today doesn't sound so tasty.
