Does anyone know when the latest make up day is for the last snow day (last Wed.)?  I understand the listed inclement weather dates have all been used up.  I would love to know why it can't be made up this coming Monday, when despite all the snow days, this is still a day off for students.

The Board approved changes to the school year calendar because the district was closed on March 3rd due to inclement weather. Monday, March 15, which was a protected workday, will now be a student day. The protected workday will now be moved to Monday, June 15. Friday, June 18, will now be an optional workday. Spring break will remain April 5-9.

There is very little flexibility in the school schedule since there are mandatory start and end dates. If you want more flexibility, contact your state legislators.

I just needed to say the above statement again a little more loudly.  I HATE the current school calendar.  It has nothing to do w/ what works best for students and teachers.

I found out about the make-up day last night (Friday) from listening to the weekly update. We didn't get any emails about the make-day either. I think they could have done a little more to let parents know since the make-up day is the next Monday.

I imagine they can always do more but I would think parents with internet access would have marched straight to the CCS website to investigate the makeup day.

You can always check the CCS website calendar.

We have an automated phone system - I wish the district would use it more often. (I know there are families without phones, but there are a lot more without internet.)

I had been checking the website, but was told that it would be a while before the make-up day was announced. I was just hoping for more notice than a Friday night. The automated system would have been a good way to announce the day.

You might want to check and see what number the school system has for you.  I got the call Tues night and it was not from my kids schools, it was the county wide school call (plus an email too).
