Northwood Ladies V Soccer Wins over DSA

In their season opener the Charger women were pushed into a double overtime match with a tough DSA squad last night, but emerged with a 3-1 win. After a halftime tie of 1-1 with an Annie Cleaver from Anna Elkins goal, the Chargers and the DSA women fought to a draw in the second half, both with nice chances to win the match. The game progressed to two ten minute overtimes where Annie Cleaver found the back of the net with a nice assist from Casey Norris to put the Chargers up 2-1. In the second overtime Anna Elkins placed a nice right footed shot into the left side of the DSA net with another assist from Casey Norris to give the NHS women the final 3-1 margin. The NHS defense of Yancey Luft, Allie Gray, Laura Shactman, Maggie Denny and April Gibbs was stellar all evening. As usual Sara McCaw was dominating in the net with nine saves. Emily Brooks, Katie McGrath and Rebecca Moore all provided great efforts as well. Next match is home Monday evening with Granville Central at 6:00.
