There's this green line west of us on the radar maps. Could it be, is it possible? Dare I type the "R" word?
Fingers and toes crossed...
Just sprinkles Time for drastic measures. Going to the car wash for one thing. Maybe fire up the grill this eve. If that doesn't stir up a storm, then I'll BEG! Hah! Whatever you did, it worked!

I begged pretty hard , Maybe I'll tone it down a little next time Thought on the drive to and from work, I should have tossed some oars into the vehicle! Hah! Whatever you did, it worked!

Major serious lightning and thunder woke us up just before 4 a.m. I'm talking ground-shaking, appliance-blinking lightning. Some of the strikes sounded entirely too close to the house. This was accompanied by straight-down hard-falling rain. The system trained over us for about an hour, hammering us repeatedly with daylight-bright displays of electrical ferocity. No wind to speak of, so no debris on the ground this morning. The decks look like they've been power-washed, and the rain gauge says 0.98 inches of rain.
I'm grateful on behalf of my thirsty garden, but bleary-eyed from the timing.

Wow! From bone dry to flash flood alert! Back door of 2 in. rain here so far! Sadly, too late for some trees on my property and for a large part the veggie plot. Despite water on it, that relentless heat just stressed things.

I hear you, natvrabit! I imagine I'll be kept awake tonight by the sound of exploding tomatoes, as they absorb all that water too fast for their skins to expand to keep up. But I'm not complaining. Water is water, and some of the plants can still use it for sure. My poor little creek is now full and happy (although way too silty, thanks to the developments upstream that don't maintain their erosion controls). I'm having a hard time stopping myself from staring out the window and giggling at the rain.

Back door open, cooler temps, smelling the freshness, listening to the drops of rain trickling down through the trees. The frogs will be singing tonight Same issue with my creek
