I see a new sign at the old Copper Penny/Morelia's/Dianna's restaurant, "La Conchita." It's not open yet, but does anybody know the scoop? I'm hoping for another good Mexican place in Siler City and wish the owners well.

Actually it is called "Mi Ranchito". It will feature Mexican Home Cooking. The Menu is not extensive,
specifically focusing on popular dishes of their region. They will be using all
fresh ingredients, handmade tortillas, etc. They plan to open this Friday. They will be serving beer
as well, but not until sometime next week. It is owned and operated by Adolfo Aguilar and his family.
Adolfo is well known in this area, and has lived here for many years.

How do I know all of this?

Adolfo helps me at my shop, and we did his sign as well.

Please give them a try. I plan on eating a lot of Tacos myself.

Good luck, hopefully they can make it go in that location.

UPDATE:

Had a preview of some of the dishes last night. One word "YUM".
It was different from other Mexican food I've had. For instance, cabbage instead of lettuce
on tacos, etc. Also, they WILL have beer opening day, bottles, not draft.

Anybody tried Pacifico beer? I though I preferred Tacate until I tried Pacifico.

I'm not familiar with antojitos, so I guess not.

Actually I'm not sure they have those. I'll check the menu tomorrow.

Ha Ha Ha

That's how much I pay attention.... The way he used it in conversation,
it meant "A Craving"

I've found it translated as both "appetizer" and "dessert," so "craving" makes perfect sense!

Update?  Anyone eat there yet & care to report??  I'm all about me some authentic Mexican home cooking & will be anxious to try it myself, but until then I'll have to live vicariously thru the reports!  So bring 'em on!

Why not go test it out and report back to the rest of us? Wink

I haven't eaten there yet, but spoke with the owner today. He's seems like a great guy with an eye toward affordable, authentic Mexican food. I'll go soon - it's open Thurs.-Sun. for lunch and dinner.

When you're feeling slow, grab a "shot of 'spro"!

Yes, the owner is a super great guy!

Tommy and I plan on taking the family there this weekend so I will report on our experience. I have no doubt it will be a great one! I am really excited to try the authentic stuff over what we've been accustomed to.

I can't get over there until the weekend.
