Update?  Anyone eat there yet & care to report??  I'm all about me some authentic Mexican home cooking & will be anxious to try it myself, but until then I'll have to live vicariously thru the reports!  So bring 'em on!

Why not go test it out and report back to the rest of us? Wink
I can't get over there until the weekend.

Please report back! I get over that way occasionally and would be interested to know.

I have eaten several items from their menu. The tacos are great. Not sure I'm ready to try several meat options (tripe, etc), but
the spicy beef was good. The Carne Asada has the best taste of any meat I've ever had. It's marinated (not sure in what),
and grilled, served with rice and beans. I could eat that every day. The Flautas were also very good, as was the flan, so far everything is.

I'll post a menu if someone will tell me how to attach a picture.

Do they have tostadas? Not the horrible things that are in the frozen food section but the real authentic paper thin type heaped with melted cheese. How about a Cuervo margarita? Yum.

It's on N. Second Ave, north of Brownie Lu's and across from the highway patrol station.

I had the chicken enchilada with beans and rice for lunch. Very tasty, fresh, generous serving!

Finally got there this afternoon. There were 6 of us and we tried different dishes. Nice portions! Awesome price! Fantastic food! I like the traditional feel; not so commercialized. I like that the menus were simple with details on what it contains, and had pictures so you knew what you were getting and there was no confusion. We'll be going back again.

Keep up the good work and let's hope this is the lucky charm for that building.

The atmosphere isn't as nice, but I like the food better. It's simpler, tastes fresher, less costly and there's more of it!  No wine, but a good beer selection.

Is this place still open, I drove by the other day and it looked like it was closed down.

Nothing survives in that location, it is too far off the beaten path and not visible from 64. In it's day when 421 ran through town it was a perfect location.

There were some major problems with the building that developed. Apparently other renters also encountered problems that
were not being addressed, so they closed up. (sewer lines, roof problems, etc.)

Yes, the location is unfortunately poor. But another factor that needs consideration is marketing/promotion. The last couple of places who were in that space had virtually no publicity: no grand openings, newspaper or radio advertisements or introductory coupons. If I did not pass by the site on my way home, I would have never known anything had opened.
