I have been trying to ID a type of rock I have been "harvesting".
It's a white-to-light gray soft rock that breaks apart easily, almost like chalk.
When you break the larger pieces it's reddish inside.
This was first turned up when they installed our power line and the folks who
installed our phone line ran into more of it so it appears wide spread.
Any ideas??
thanks,
Bruce and Lisa

What you're describing sounds like a sandstone. Check out this link.
