Any other orchid lovers out there know of a good, local place to find some "different" ones?  We already have LOTS, but I would like to get one we don't have for my husband for Father's Day.  All of ours so far are from Lowes' so we have several of that basic one they carry there and a few of their others.  I have heard of the "Orchids by Hanks Chapel" and am thinking of checking it out.  Just wondering if anyone here has seen any anywhere else.  I know my sister got one for my mom at a grocery store somewhere closer to Chapel Hill.  Just want get all my options together before "sneaking out"!   Grin

Thanks for the recommendation!  Do you just go by there during the "open hours" like a normal retail store?  I saw hours on the website.  Do you know the price range on his orchids?  Thanks again!

Fresh Market in Chapel Hill also carries a large selection or orchids.

They are so beautiful. I just don't have the proper light conditions for them at home, so I have resigned myself to not kill any more of them by trying at my best Cry

I counted not too long ago and we have close to 30 of them!!  Maybe 8-10 in bloom right now.  Some just finished blooming and some just about to.  Yes, very beautiful!  I am just glad my hubby is so "into" them and that I get to enjoy the fruits/beauty of his labors.  I'd never have the patience he does with them.  We did kill one a few years ago, but that was before HE knew what he was doing.  I'd still kill them if they were left under my control I'm sure.  I can't even remember to water the window box right outside my kitchen window!!

I did talk to Jeff Baldwin via email (secretly!!) from Hanks Chapel and am pretty sure I am going to go check out what he has the week before Father's Day.  He is closest for me and sounds like he has what I'm looking for.  He even said to let him know when I'd be by and he'd pull me a nice one.  I told him the variety I was preferring.  Very helpful/kind so far.

Thanks for all your help!
