Does anyone know anything about the store front with the Espresso sign in it across from Virlies?

Normally I don't pay much attention to rumors, but my source is very good on this one.   Grin

Supposedly a company called "Red Star Coffee" is setting-up shop in the space next to Antonella's.  I tried to look it up on-line and it automatically redirects to "Green Star Coffee".  If these are the same companies, "Green Star" is probably a better fit, since they specialize in organic coffees.  Plus, all the creative marketing in the world isn't going to undo the potentially negative symbolism of a single red star.

If anyone is interested in working there as a barista:

According to their craigslist listing they have another shop in Chapel Hill.  I'm assuming that the CH location is operating under a name different than Red Star Coffee.

Could it be that the shop will be featuring Green Star Coffee, but not a part of a Green Star franchise?

Judging from their website:  http://greenstarcoffee.com/
they seem to be more in the wholesale/retail side of the business than the actual brewing.  I'm not much a coffee drinker, but it could be another site to get some of Larry's cheesecake Smiley

I wonder if it's the same folks who were going to open a few years back.

None of you kids read the Chatham Record, huh? According to a piece a few weeks back, the coffee shop will be open late August, although I'm sure the timing depends on a lot of variables. It is owned by the business partner of the woman who'd intended to run the Pittsboro location, but who left NC to be closer to her family. It's affiliated with the coffee shop in Meadowmont whose name I can't remember right now, but which has a good reputation.

Ahhhh, Bean Traders.  They're a quality coffee shop so this is definitely a super nice addition to downtown.

That's it! I've heard good things, although I've never been there myself.
