I know Gene leans conservative, I just happened to see one of those "Democrats are scared' ads today and the thought crossed my mind. Has anyone ever seen any liberal ads on this BBS?

I'm not really complaining, but we have just read so many posts on here about how liberals want to keep info from people and that kind of thing and how they want to keep conservatives out of the conversation, etc. Just kind of struck me as funny.

I use Firefox with Ad Blocker so I don't see the ads.

Thanks for the tip, I use Firefox, so I just installed Ad Blocker. I feel so much better now.

My guess is it depends on the topic.   There probably is some sort of word scanner that throws the best targeted ad for the group.    Although, I see a lot on vonage ads now.

Nope, Firefox with Adblocker gets rid of all sorts of pop ups.

Sounds like a complaint and an accusation of bias to me.

Could you be more specific about the accusation about "how liberals want to keep info from people and how they want to keep conservatives out of the conversation"?

I don't know how the ads are determined, I haven't noticed a liberal or conservative "slant" for the ads.

I've wondered if it was topic related like someone else mentioned, at times I've also wondered if they are determined by sites I've visited.  A few weeks ago I had been on paychex's website and for a few days there were several paychex ads on the BBS when I logged in, also back in the spring when I was heading to Vegas and booking a room for several days there were ads for various Vegas hotels.

It's possible that the Arizona Strong ad has been shown while I was on the BBS, but I don't recall seeing it, so it either only came up once or twice for me, or it didn't stand out.

I noticed it is topic dependent. When you go on the Schhol section you see ads for online colleges. Also it may be your IP address. If you look up certain sites or bui things online your cookies use that info to put up ads that lean toward that topic.

When the topic was gay marriage, the ads were not conservative, AT ALL! I too assumed they were topic related ads.

I now see an add for laser rangefinders for golf.   Which I find disturbing since I just ordered one yesterday.   Is my browsing history being indexed?

I do know they relate to your cookies and probably your Google searches, what I'm saying is that if you watch the ones on this site, you never see any with a liberal slant. They are either for a neutral product or they are warning about Obamacare or whatever. Please, anyone, go ahead and post an image that you saw here that is not one of the above (from the Google ads).

Mountain Gal, is that a serious question? Really? If you post here any amount of time, I'm sure folks have seen CHF, for example, make that accusation. Most of you have as well in your rants about the liberal media or evolution or whatever. It's a variation on the liberals hate facts theme you love so much.  Cool

I don't know about your browsing history, did you use Google to find it? I believe it is mostly related to Google Adsense:

Are you keeping score of liberals vs. conservatives?   And liberals have never ranted?  Okay - if you say so, you win the prize!!  I'll play nicer than you though - I won't call anyone out.  We, as in conservatives, may read from the same book, but that does not necessarily mean we are all on the same page.

But as for browsing history - I do use google.  As for ads not having a liberal slant - your example had Pelosi and Obama -how much more liberal do you want?
