All,
I wanted to take a moment to say Thank You for joining the Northwood High School Athletic Booster Club.  We are excited about the 2010-2011 school year and anticipate another successful year for all of our players and teams.
It has already been a busy summer for our school.  The Fall sports have been practicing hard and some will start playing games this week.  If you have been on campus recently, you may have noticed significant work being done on the Soccer field.  The Booster Club has been successful in securing funding to correct some major drainage issues, and expand the playing surface to a regulation size field.  We will then begin working on securing 'Grant' money to add lights, bleachers and restrooms so we can hold games and the field can become a facility our kids can be proud of.
 Fundraising
To continue to build all of our programs and facilities we need your help.  Our biggest fund raiser of the year is already under way.  This year we will be conducting a Raffle with prizes of $5,000 / $500 / $250 / $100 in cash (not a reverse raffle or dinner as we did last year)
We need help with two items:
   1. Folks that can help sell tickets.  They come in books of 10 with great selling points......(cash prizes, door prizes, tax deductible, only 400 to be sold)
   2. About 5 volunteers to form a Raffle Committee (Arrange door prizes and coordinate logistics of the actual drawing)
Please let me know if you can help with either of these items.
 Concessions
Throughout the year we will send out requests for help with concessions at certain events.  Concessions is one of our primary fundraisers and also is a good way to get to know other members of the club.  Please consider helping out when you can.
 General Meeting
There will be a general membership meeting on September 13th at 6:30pm in the Northwood Media Center.  The Booster Club leadership team will lay out our goals for the year and review general club business.  Matters involving club business will be voted on.  As a current member of the Booster Club, you have the right to vote on these matters.
 Leadership Team
At the General meeting, you will also get a chance to meet the Leadership Team.  The following individuals have agreed to serve for the upcoming year:
Lex Alvord - Vice President
Sharon Smith - Secretary
Sue Gibbs - Co-Treasurer
Sarah Svendsen - Co-Treasurer
Kimberli Flaugher - Membership Chair
Marty Brooks - Communications Chair
Terry Sturdivant - Super Boosters Chair
Rick Gibbs - Concessions Chair
Open - Raffle
Open - Coaches Liaison
   Best Regards,
Bob Wynne

No dinner or door prizes with the raffle?  And it's 50 bucks?  Good luck with that.  I was at last years and the dinner and the event was certainly part of the pull.
Reinventing something that was a success, to the tune of $11,000 profit, doesn't make sense.

Think I'll just pass on buying or selling any tickets.  It wasn't that easy of a sell last year but the dinner and door prizes sweetened the pot.  Between losing those teases and the economy, I dont' even want to try to get 50 bucks out of someone.

NHSParent, If you ever need help raising money for athletics, trips, etc. please consider using us for serving our drinks at your games. I believe people would enjoy a fresh cup of coffee, a latte, a Mocha, a homemade hot chocolate, a frozen lemonade or some of our other yummy drinks while watching the game, in addition to what is usually served. We could then donate 20% of our revenue sales to the athletic dept (i.e., sales = $100, Booster Club gets $20). I couldn't promise we'd be at every game due to our schedule but it could help. We've done some private games outside of Chatham and they were very profitable. We're here to help in anyway we can!

Oh...and, we donate 100% of the tips we collect during the event.

Sincerely,
Tina Meeks

I think the Boosters have a rule that doesn't allow outside venders.
