Okay, you all know I am a cheap date when it comes to Virlie's meatloaf. But, this being meatloaf Thursday, I have to go back a SECOND time, tonight, because at lunch, Chris had made his famous Bacon-Tomato chowder! Oh my goodness. I ate TWO bowls!! That stuff is so good!!! My wife calls it "slap your momma good!" We will go back for supper tonight, hopefully, to get some meatloaf.  Any of my BBS friends are welcome to come and say hey while we are there.  (And just because you are a leftist does not mean we are not friends! It just means you are wrong on political stuff.  Wink  )

Had a nice visit with MamaCash yesterday at lunch and one of the few things we agree on is the Bacon-Tomato chowder soup.  (There's hope for that darling woman yet!)  Between the two of us we talked Chris into making it today and it is SOOOOOO good!

Does anyone else play Galaga? I made a lifetiime high score today. Must have been the CHOWDER!!

I fear that I ruined her for cooking. Yes, I can and do cook, but if I eat someone else's cooking it is likely at a restaurant.

Went Friday night for medium-rare steak.  Very good.

And the out-the-back smoking ladies are a gas.  Cool

I like the image of CHF playing Galaga for some reason. Nice job on the high score!

Okay, everyone knows I have a sweet tooth, right?  What does a fellow like me do in town?  I go to Virlie's for a piece of Pat's cake.  She makes this special chocolate cake, with chocolate icing, then she ices it with german chocolate icing. I have always loved the icing used on German Chocolate cakes, but not the cake so much. Pat has offered the obvious solution.

My wife does not eat cake, after so many years as a cake decorator, and quite the impressive one at that, but I still do, so when I brought home TWO pieces the other week my wife was indignant. She demanded to know why I had bout TWO pieces. The answer was obvious. There were only two left.

Try Pat's cake.

BTW, they do have a lighter desert cake, which is quite pleasant and not as rich. Sort of a summery strawberry cream concoction.  Not as appealing to me most of the time, but it does so hit the spot on a hot day. I may never make the Krispy Kreme at Chapel Hill, for two reasons...first I wish to avoid the fire and brimstone, but second, with Pat's cake, I can satisfy my sweet tooth right here in Pittsboro!

Had a piece of Pat's cake again tonight. Woo hoo! Had the fried Cod and a bowl of Roasted Poblano soup too. (That is my second favorite of Chris's creations, after the Bacon tomato chowder!)

In other news, Chris has started stocking two new Duplin wines. Brice's Creek is a light and sweet white wine and their Hatteras Red is slightly fuller but still sweet. They are fantastic and very reasonably priced. Much better than the typical wine you find in inexpensive family restaurants.
