And why or why not

Maybe if she heard a little constructive critiquing she could improve OR maybe your opinion is skewed by
some not so factual facts.  Or maybe it's just cuz' she's a 'Pub???

Thanks! I have told people since Wed, Nov 5, 2008, that I am running in 2012. I lost by 663 votes. So, my goal has been to make 3 or 4 new friends/supporters each week until the 2012 election - I think I'm well on my way, and I'm keeping track of all of you who post that you support me - I'll be contacting you in March 2012.

Mia, thanks again for keeping us informed about what is going on in the school system. 2011 is not that far away.

I think I get more information from her posts than I do from the CCS website, that's dedication.

Mia anyone who does not vote for you is either hopelessly biased toward another candidate or has never had a chance to speak with you! It's hard to imagine anyone who has had a conversation with you NOT realizing how thoughtful, informed and dedicated you are.

The biggest problem with the BoE race is the voters who do not have an interest in the school system, they vote because of a recognized name, or they play eenie meenie miney mo. We are all guilty of that one time or another with judicial and other elections, it is a matter of educating those that do not know or have no interest in a elected position. Telling someone about Mia will stick in their minds on election day 2012.

I sure will vote for Mia Munn, I voted for her in 2008 and will do whatever to get her elected in 2012...she is without a doubt the most informed person I know about the current school system. If you have a question about Chatham County Schools you can believe she will give you an informative, considered opinion or fact. She is the one to vote for, hell I say we write her in this year!

I'll probably vote for Munn, but would feel better about it if I knew she'd had some public school experience. Haven't heard about that.

She does have public school experience as a teacher.

Is it really important to have someone who "knows" the system. Isn't having too many insiders part of the problem?

But to answer the question I would surely vote Mia.  From the posts I have read, I think she is a very thoughtful and conscientious and would be a great addition to the board.

I don't really care whether a candidate has had experience in the Chatham County school system, but I do think it's important that he or she has had teaching and/or administrative experience within some public school system. One cannot adequately know or understand know public school issues without having been directly involved in one.

Could not disagree more. People couldn't understand why Louis Gerstner was picked to run IBM. He was a food products guy - how could he possibly turn IBM around. Guess what he did. He didn't know the first thing about computers but he did know how to run a company.

Same idea applies with the school board. If we get someone that is inbred with the school administration mentality all we get is something whose solution to every problem is more. More Money, More Teachers, More Buildings, More Portable Electronic Devices.

We need a different approach.

Schools aren't companies. That said, I don't think the answer is "more" either. I'm certainly open to your or Munn's suggestions for "a different approach."  I welcome any feedback.
