And yes fun will still be made of southern states - as long as anyone who has seen deliverance is alive, this will be true  ;-)

This is amazing it still happens with all we know about genetics.

To be fair the only impression I had of the south growing up in Chicago was from TV. Hee Haw, Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction, and Green Acres was all we had to go on.

We made fun of them yes, but the entertainment industry had a lot to do with it.

I wonder if that means that everyone living in New Jersey isn't like the cast of Jersey Shore?  Cheesy

No, it is pretty accurate.

Well look at some other TV... Love American Style was about California swingers. The Partridge family was a mod, musical non traditional family based on CA so we thought they were all like that.

All New Yorkers were portrayed as punk street kids in shows and movies of that era. Times have changed and it has gotten better with more diversity and such.

As for the Jersy Shore, I so not watch any reality shows at all so I cannot comment.

I've never watched Jersey Shore but somehow I doubt it's accurate if it's at all like the usual Jersey stereotypes.  At least from what I've heard about it.

I grew up in South Jersey and there's a big difference between different parts of the state.

 It's about Italian stereotypes.
