We have had a cute little girl show up at our house on Bower Store Road in the Silk Hope Area.  I would guess less than a year old with sad brown eyes and one ear that turns down.  She is very good with other dogs and children.  Please email me if you are missing your dog and we will see if she is our little visitor.

I wonder if the animal shelter keeps records when people come in looking for specific animals?  Her owners may have been there looking for her.  If no one comes forward, you could contact Chatham Animal Rescue.  They might be able to find a good permanent home for her.

Yes they do. I went there looking for my little Ralphie, and they took a report. The next day, someone called them about him (He has seizures, so they thought he had rabies or something.) I got my Ralphie back when they called me.

Yes, we have done all of the above and more.  The rescue organizations barely respond, if at all.  The county tells you that if you bring it in they will have to put another  animal down  ( aka kill) to have room for it.  We seem to live where people dump their animals for someone else to handle the responsibility of finding a home for them.  Each time we think that surely the owner will show up, however, that is rarely the case.  This young lady really deserves a good home.  I hate to see her be put to death.  She deserves better.

That's how I ended up with 10 dogs. I'm full right now, or I'd take her.

Can you post a picture?  Thanks for taking her in temporarily.

No, I do not know how to do that.  I can email a pix if anyone is interested in giving her a forever home.

Maybe they'll get back with you after the long weekend (hopefully).  I know that they're stretched pretty thin on resources like everyone else.  They'll probably ask you if you can continue to provide her a foster home until they can find a permanent place for her to go to.

Tis frustrating. So many opportunities out there for low cost spay/neuter and people still won't do that and instead we end up with these innocent animals that get euthanized, dumped to starve etc.
I appreciate the rescue groups, but there is only so much room in the inn. They aren't the problem, but instead part of the half-way house 'solution'.
And thank you for taking this one in and trying to find it a home Smiley

Thanks for what you're doing, Teka. Go by Max's Dog Wash if you can and talk to them about helping to find a home for her. Don't give up on the rescuers. They're volunteers and do great work.

Hi Teka,

Is the dog that you found short-haired, long-haired?
Does she resemble a Shih-tzu?

We have been contacted by Care and offered some assistance.  Thank goodness!  I was starting to lose faith in my fellow citizens.
They are assisting us in getting  little Orphan Annie into seeing a vet.   Hopefully they will be able to assist us in finding her a temporary if not permanent home.

Yay!  Let us know if they take and post pics.  I sure wish we could take her.

Teka, have you seen the post from someone looking for a small or medium puppy? Maybe there's a match here. And I'm glad you heard from CARE.

With the help of CARE, we took little orphan Annie (as we have been calling her)  to the vets today.  She thinks boxer/terrier mix, approximately 7/8 months old.   She is healthy with the exception of the expected worms.  So we now have her on medication.  I don't know what size she will be.  I think more medium to large.  She is at a wiggly 47 lbs.
