Randy Voller probably doesn't know 70 businesses in his own town.  He certainly doesn't ask for their input or go out of his way to get to know them.  He seems to fight new ones at every opportunity.

Maybe he is trying to whittle the number of Pittsboro businesses down to 23?

Or... Maybe the actual number is 23. Unless someone actually has a list of the 70.

The 23 came from a rolling tally.  Signatures were being collected.  Town meeting.  HRCA submitted what they had at the time (23).  HRCA continued collecting signatures, got up to 69, and turned that in to the board.  But it wasn't an "official" board meeting (or something along those lines).  Now if Voller had stated in the letter that they were aware of the 69, but couldn't formally accept them at this time, then I would have been ok with that.  But his response was that it may be overinflated.  That was just trying to discredit the school right there.  Anyway, the tally is up to at least 72 now.

But just consider the 23 for a moment vs the 4 against.  That's almost 6 to 1.  In many democratic issues, you would be lucky to get 3:2.  When it gets up to 18:1 (72:4), that is crazy insane.  Who likes apple pie & ice cream?  I bet that's not 18:1.  Who likes cute puppies and fuzzy kittens?  That's probably not 18:1 either.  If you're an elected official, the smartest thing to do at this point is zip the lip and get out of the way.

I think you got the list that the board did (after the 23).  At the next town meeting, the new updated list will be formally submitted.  And I'm betting a fair number of the signees will be there to state their mind too.

So are the alleged 69, businesses, or businesspeople ? Are there 69 individual businesses represented, or is it just 69 signatures of people who work within 10 miles of PBO ?

They are all businesses, in Pittsboro. I've been told the list is now over 70.

Why don't you find the list yourself if it is so damned important? Then you can know for sure instead of speculating on this board at Randy's behest.

I guess you are just following the example he set.

List is posted on the BBS now. However there are only 68 names on the list. Who is missing?

There were 68 businesses posted, but 2 more have been added. In addition, two of the businesses had multiple people sign the petition - both barbers, and three realtors at one of the realty agencies.

Ok, since this seems to be major bone of contention, to clarify, each Real Estate agent is an independent business owner and are not employees of the real estate agency...... and each Barber is as well..... Mr. Cooper is not an employee of Mr. Barker.

In the end, I guess this has grown in to a big deal because numbers have been floated out and numbers have been challenged.   I suggest we hit this head on, talk about support or lack of support for the petition and drive on (FIDO)........unless somewhere the exact number matters.

If he would refrain from speaking up and out until he is asked to break a tie, I would be delighted.

I understand that ever since the tax cheat issue came out, Governor Perdue hasn't been returning any of his calls.
