Especially the part where he calls meg Genes campaign manager, or the part where gene posted under a "nom de plume."  Is that right???

http://www.chathamschoolsnow.com/2008/04/shes-back.html

Gene's campaign manager, Meg Miller, is back from a self-imposed bright and sunny sabbatical which lasted all of about 6 weeks. That's OK - I find the "real" Meg a lot more quotable.

Galin doesn't say much - with his obstructionist, provincial and anti North East (as well as anti-West) views it's a smart strategy. He's 0/2 and will try to sneak by under the radar saying as little as possible this time. But little is left to the imagination by the years long paper trail left by his vocal and opinionated campaign manager, Miller.

Miller's provincial and myopic schools "advocacy" goes way back ...

As one of the chief opponents of the proposed county wide school bond that would have fully funded the North East High School as well as get Northwood millions in renovations, she was pleased when it invariably arrived DOA, with a knife in it's back. The reason the bond was bad? Because it would have funded "Governors Club High School" (her nickname for the North East High School) of course - and that was something that she couldn't tolerate. Instead we've had to fight a tortuous battle to essentially accomplish the same thing - but 2 years later (another 2 years wasted).

Fast forward to early 2007, Miller advocated for the NE High School to be moved to Moncure (or any other location outside the North East), lest students from the North East be able to attend! It would have been a "rich, white" school, in her mind. Her world view is highlighted in this article.

When the school location was reluctantly approved by the BOE later that year she then howled that it's budget should be cut and the money used to fund a costly and wasteful expansion plan for Northwood. In this she was largely successful, since good friend and neighbor George Lucier (County Commissioner) did just this. His scheme to finance an unneeded expansion off the backs of North East students is cataloged here.

When I said the school was to be increased to 1,200 she screamed "propaganda" but oops, that's exactly what happened. And is now reflected in the current Or/Ed plan, which will distort district lines and artificially lengthen bus routes for years.

Who was in favor of the radical redistricting scheme that was to be foisted on North Chatham - who else? Miller has been vocally agitating for this school to be redistricted even though she fought bitterly against the same exact plan several years ago when it would have affected her children. When I announced this redistricting plan, pre-empting the BOE's attempt to get this done before anyone found out about it, again she screamed "propaganda". Um, nope - we wished it was. It's covered here.

Now she occupies herself (with what seems to be a lot of free time) trying to get "her man" Gene elected for the BOE, District 2. The important thing to understand is that electing Gene is electing this same old, tired clique of Totten, Miller, Solomon) that has been against any attempt to do anything worthwhile at any school in the county except Northwood. They use the same exact tactics - misquoting, threats, spin and even the same talking points quoted almost verbatim.

Galin's campaign message is "it's going to be a bright, new sunny day" - or some sort of tripe. The reality is it's the same old tired, divisive cynical class/race based thinking that has led us to our current situation - no where. And if you try to forget, as many of us have, Meg promises to be around for a long time reminding us of the kind of thinking that got us here.

It's time for some new faces ... but we need these guys around long enough to remind us of why voting (for anybody but Galin) this November is so critical. Otherwise you can kiss "Governors Club High School" good bye. I also need grist for my blog which was starting to get a little too quiet Wink

let's see if this elicits another "chatlist" missive from Galin writing under a Nom de plume like he did last time. That last one garnered a lot of new readers and some new fans out West!

For what it's worth, I dont' think Gene's theme that something good is going to happen today  is tripe, I think it's sincere.  I also don't think there's a thing divisive about him.

I'm always amazed at Brian's (and his best friend Flint) ability to look like total horses behinds.

Keep it up Brian, you do more to destroy your candidate's chances than I ever could.  Of course, his performance at the forums doesn't help either.

The reason he's come out with this little foot stomping 4 year old tirade NOW is that I commented to his blog about his removing negative comments he made about The Coalition.(he can't seem to get his feelings straight on that front)  My comments aren't posted there either, but I'm sure he read them as he is his own blog nazi.

I don't know where to begin with this tantrum....so I'll do what I did when my kids used to throw them;  ignore it and leave the room.

What a piece of work Lockwood is!  And to think Flint O'Brien and Peter Rubinas have thrown in with him as candidates for the Board of Education.

At least Lockwood did associate me with excellent, concerned citizens about Chatham schools in Gene, Meg Miller and Greg Solomon albeit the rest of his rant in that association is totally false.  That fact doesn't bother him a whit and never did however.

This county would be hard pressed to find more sincere folks than those three over years of contributions versus the vitrolic spews of one who knows the military meaning of two passovers for failure to respond to requests for correct information but not honor.

Sorry, Lockwood, but you've been called out again.

Colonel,

I have had a grand total of one conversation with Mr. Lockwood since I decided to run for the Board of Education, and it was to tell him why I wouldn't be seeking his support for my campaign.  While I respect his right to say whatever he wants, I have not agreed with his tone in the past, and I don't expect this will change in the future.

I have gotten to know Flint pretty well because he's been attending Board of Education meetings the last year and a half I have been attending them and we've had many conversations about our school system.  I believe Flint will try hard to make good decisions for the school system based on the best data available to him.

I've said it before that I'm not interested in joining the "us vs. them" fray that seems to permeate this forum.  I am interested in using my skills to help the Board make the best possible decisions for the future of our children.

I have told everyone who asks me about the current Board that I really respect how hard you work to do what is right as a member of the Board.  I hope you can return the favor in the future and not make false statements about me on public forums like this.

Peace,
Pete Rubinas

Mr. Rubinas:

To the extent I may have misread your association prior to and following your decision to file for elected office with Lockwood and Flint O'Brien, I apologize.

I can see where this has some merit.

I have met Mr. Rubinas.  I like what he said and I feel he is sincere in his commitment to work for Chatham schools.

Unfortunately, I don't and have never gotten that impression from Mr. Obrian, at least not until he decided to run for school board.
Before that point, when he realized as we did years ago that the BOE is the only place to effect change, I think the WheresMYschool
North Chathamite was his party line.  He hooked up with some Gov. Club folks from high places and there you have your candidate.

The association between Rubinas and Obrian was inevitable.  Who it will help or hurt is to be seen.

I still say Rubinas and Gene will split the vote and Hamm will win that one.( i wish this wasn't so, but I don't see any other outcome with three running)  And Mia  so far out shines Obrian intellectually and in particular concerning matters dealing with education.  I am hoping that all preconceived notions will be put aside in that race and the truly better candidate will be elected on her merit. I'll also be surprised, but not really, if the Coalition picks Obrian.  Why?  Because in the matters of education they have always backed the right horse.  If they back Obrian on this one, it would truly only be a political endorsement.  And the "ticket" would out weigh the common sense.

Based on the fact that Flynt has backed Kost and Starkweather, can we really expect the Coalition NOT to support Flynt in the fall?
