The Park service says its not in their  jurisdiction, land is owned by Us corp of engineers. Since the road is half in Wake and Half in Chatham I wasn't sure who to call. This is a two mile dead end (into the lake) road and we get four wheelers, motorcycles, dirt bikes ... I think they feel the road is safe yet its the usual two lane with big trees. The only thing that won't happen here is getting busted!

this is why I suggested the FBI, I wasn't joking. 2 things about the FBI:

1. they have no sense of humor at all. they will listen to your story, especially the part about the Corp. of Engineers sign, and the lake has Federal ties, because it goes to the ocean. they will say, "Mam, that is not really our area." then they will tell you who is responsible for that. and give you the number.

     2. it is easy to find their number in the phone book.

Have any of the agency people you have spoken with informed you of the appropriate people to try to contact or have they just stated "not their problem/jurisdiction"?

i know what road your talking about. to say that these guys are down there drinking then racing is kinda far fetched dont ya think? have you seen these kids? i have been going down there fishing for the past 20 years and there has always been beer bottles all over the ground. im not saying they dont go fast down the road because i know they do sometimes. the "black marks in tiny circles" that you mentiond was also not done during the day im sure. im sure it was done late at night when there were no cars out. ive met these kids before when i was down there fishing. i talked to them and they all seemed very polite.. they were just down there hanging out, building a fire and fishing. both times ive seen them they had a 6 pack devided by like 5 people. i dont think anyone is getting drunk off that. if i see these kids again (which im sure i will) i will tell them about this and thet they need to slow down on the road alittle and stop tailgating each other.  but you know teens will be teens.. one day they will learn that that rubber is too expensive to burn off, but as long as they arnt doing it in traffic or when anyone is around, let them have alittle fun.. these are good kids going down there to fish and hang out. im sure theres many other things teens could be doing at night that could get them off to the wrong path. fishing, building a fire, and spinning a tire isn't really that bad.

i will talk to them about speeding on the road

The Corps Of Engineers has an office at the dam on Jordan Lake. They should be contacted with the information that the barrier they installed is missing. That can be a safety problem if someone would drive in to the lake. The phone # for them is  542-2227. I would suggest calling  the Chatham county Sherrif's dept ( 542-2911) and letting them know of the racing. It might not be high on their list, but if a deputy is in the area he can check on it while patrolling.

guess you missed the part that nobody is racing.  why would they race down a rough road like that one. if they are going to race its going to be on 64 where they have a long stright.

nobody is racing, according to you.  and your authority springs from the fact that you sometimes fish there.

if they are teens, then it is underaged drinking and where/whom are they acquiring that from J.? Don't be encouraging them to drink and drive please or to litter or "boys will be boys" tearing down safety barricades.
Besides, the residents on this road should be respected, they live there. "Hoods" in training need to move on.

can someone on that road get the license numbers from some or any of the cars?

My dad in a suburban neighborhood in Raleigh got really tired of the racing and driving around one day, the "kids not from our neighborhood", he laid down in the middle of the street until the boys came around the road and stopped (thank goodness).  In the meantime, mother was calling 911, they stopped and police came. That was scary for me as a child, but if someone is brave enough-try it.
