But, if you check the sales for these developments I'm sure you will find they too are suffering from slow sales.

Then why do we need more inventory?

Sharp Rise in Shopping Center Vacancies
The number of shuttered box stores and empty strip malls has expanded dramatically over the last six months, according to data compiled by commercial real estate brokers and investment advisors. And the situation is likely to get much worse.    http://www.newrules.org/retail/news_slug.php?slugid=372

Has Cole Park Plaza ever been full?  When I worked for the Home Care agency up there....it was never full ....I don't understand the need to continue building like this and not have renters?   Lots of money tied up with no revenue ...or am I missing something? Is there some advantage ie tax break, inventory for having these buildings Not at capacity? I truly don't know.

the strip malls are not full now. not building more is not keeping any business from finding a home.

and the downtown areas are finding investors to fill existing buildings, and renew downtown areas.

it is all good.

I am thankful to pause for even a few months the damage done by covering up more earth with concrete and rooftop and asphalt, the damage done by clearcutting trees, and bulldozing more earth and native plants. this moratorium is giving nature a chance to pant and regroup before they get run further into extinction.

Belle, I just wondering where all the money for this constant building is coming from ... how do they make with all this money out and none in ....I guess I should not have asked...I am sure there is a simple explanation ...I 'm just not getting it.

If you don't get it, then leave it to others who do.  But to keep coming out on topics you clearly know nothing about only to show your support for Mayah and his bride is unbecoming.

Is this addressed to me? If so, what is your problem? Last I looked this is a public forum ,,,where YOU have been allowed to run around making all sorts of unsubstantiated comments about certain people ...I simply asked BELLE a question.

As for me not knowing about a topic...If I recall this is a forum to LEARN about thing you don't understand.

mostly they sell one house and use the money to start on another. they pay one commercial loan with the down payment from the previous loan's house sale. robbing Peter to pay Paul. only now Peter isn't able to get a loan anymore, and it hurts. they still owe the bank for the house they are still building and can't pay men to finish. glad I got out a few years ago.

No one is saying build more houses, certainly NOT the market, which is I think my whole point of the thread.  Why announce a government  based moratorium when the free market has already done that for you.  Icing on the cake I suppose for the anti-growthers.  A sorta "feel good" statement I guess.

And good for you Belle, that you were able to get out of the building business I guess.  A lot of folks aren't, and neither can their sub-contractors.
