... I’d like to include not having the private sector meddling in mine.
I'm curious as to what you meant by this phrase. Government meddles in you life whether you want it to or not... it has the use of force at its disposal. Very few, if any, private enterprises can "meddle in your life" without your permission, or without them having committed a crime. From the local government coming and taking pictures of my house and posting those on the property tax website (from my driveway, none-the-less, since you can't see the house from the road), to the fact that the current crop of CC's have taken some of my money to run and empty bus up and down 15-501... they do so at the point of a gun. Were any private entities to come onto my property without my permission, they would be leaving at the point of a gun... not snapping pictures and drawing out a floor plan of my house...also to post on the internet for all to see.

Gone all day and I return to find...no answer to my question. Mr. Bock? Mr. Bock? Bueller? Bueller?

Since you won't listen to what we are saying here, why don't you go find him at one of the onestop voting stations, he seems to be there meeting voters fairly regularly. Or, you can keep bitching about it, you know, whatever.

You are saying the same things over and over: obesity director, sustainability director, blah de blah de blah. I already know that many of the respondants on this thread don't want these things and that Mr. Bock doesn't want them. That's why I'm "bitching." What I want to know is if he plans to cut all the social programs I mentioned in my previous posts. It's a different question and one that is not being answered. I am guessing yes, he wants to cut these things, and I'm guessing he doesn't want to come out and admit it because that would be very unpopular if the county residents knew that. But, like you said, whatever. Carry on preaching the the converted, everyone...

As I stated before, in these times EVERYTHING is on the table and where there are inefficiencies, they can be cleaned up. UNTIL HE HAS ACCESS TO A LINE ITEM BUDGET HOW CAN HE ANSWER THAT. Why won't they give him one? Afraid at some of the other frills and fluff they have put in there, so there is your answer. Feel free to bring him one and let him analyze it. You know, you could do a little leg work and get this answer you are DYING to have, since it is so damned important to you. Take a little initiative and find out yourself, or, keep complaining and implying.

Snowcamper; my reference to private sector meddling in my business pertained to a poster presuming to know who I was voting for in this thread; just one of many examples in jumping to conclusions and launching distortions, which is the essence of my posts on this thread.
Response to Beinginferior's comment re. a candidate's inability to specify the application of their budgetary plans; "UNTIL HE HAS ACCESS TO A LINE ITEM BUDGET HOW CAN HE ANSWER THAT"
I really do not keep up adequately with county politics and the budget, but isn't the budget public information? (perhaps not line-by-line... I don't know how drilled down a citizen or candidate could access). Nevertheless, wouldn't a candidate be able to specify their priorities... what would stay in the budget, what would get tossed if the budget can't be met? OR, what would be the additional streams of revenue to meet budget?

You had an opportunity. Why did you choose to pass it up? Dear Ms. Nichols, Ordinarily I would not comment on fundraising emails sent by the opposition but I will make this one exception. Although your website says that you are speaking for our commissioners, I can't imagine that an elected official would approve the specifics of your recent emails or your tactics. I'll assume that you and the coalition are well meaning and zealous supporters but not officially sanctioned by any of our elected officials. Over the years I have read the Chatham Coalition website and have said often that your stated values and stated goals are very similar to my own. The major difference being how those goals should be achieved. Unfortunately, I can no longer find your values or goals listed on your website. Have they changed? I would expect that during a campaign season certain opinions get exaggerated. Your emails however, including the one sent on September 5th, go well beyond spin or exaggeration. There are some outright falsehoods. I assure you that I am a strong supporter of our schools and civil rights. If there is something you have heard me say or seen on my website that supports your assertions that I would like to gut our schools, eliminate the NE high school, drop all civil rights initiatives, or institute an expensive immigrant deportation program, please share it with me. I'm pretty sure that these types of emails will not only hurt your credibility as an organization but hurt the very candidates that you wish to help. There are plenty of actual policy differences between the incumbents and the challengers to attack without resorting to making things up. At one time, the coalition said it was a non-partisan organization. If that is still the case, I would like to make the same offer that I made to Mr. Hammond. I would be willing to attend one of your public meetings to answer any questions and explain my platform. I believe your members and the voters of Chatham County could benefit from hearing directly and unfiltered from those who will represent them. I realize that I'm not the usual speaker you would normally invite, but I'm sure that turnout would be good if you did. Brian Bock www.electbock.combrian@electbock.com

Let's see if the new commissioners keep their word on getting rid of the useless Human RELATIONS position.
