MONCURE - When Chatham County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a disturbance at 739 Old US 1, Moncure on July 5, someone held a gun above a crowd and shot at the deputies. According to a media release, deputies arrived to find about 60 people at the location. At least two individuals began fighting when deputies arrived, the release said. As Deputy Phillip Richard tried to stop the fight, an individual held a gun above the crowd and shot in the direction of Deputy Richard, the release said. and no one was hurt in this incident. maybe cool heads, and slow hands prevailed and I salute the cops on the scene.

This episode just sounds like people got lucky, whoever was doing the shooting could of killed people very easily if they wanted to but was just firing up in the air, or was bullets actually whizzing by the Sheriff's heads?

Ya, I agree. For the life of me I just can't see why anyone would bring a gun to a party when they know they are going to be drinking. STUPID STUPID STUPID is all I can say.

 but I can remember back in the day of my hunting career and camping, after the hunt was over and night fell, the spirits came out, but the guns were unloaded and put away till morning.

Perhaps they do. If someone is dumb enough to blow into the barrel they will not be allowed to fire a second shot.

Perhaps they do. If someone is dumb enough to blow into the barrel they will not be allowed to fire a second shot. that's called social darwinism. seriously, though, I have seen trigger guards that were called "childproof" but were pretty drunk proof, too.
