here's one about the land Cole Park sits on. it was acquired in settlement of a sensational lawsuit involving the law, a claim of rape, and a mayor from another county's seat.

I am new to the board. I found this thread and figured I would add to it from the other side of the county.
You remember when Siler City's 4th of July parade was bigger than the Chicken festival
You remember when there was no chicken festival
You remember when $0.25 would buy you a bottomless cup of coffee in Bills grill
You remember when Rudy at Food Town was the only Mexican in Siler city
You Know where the flat woods are
You Know someone concieved in the flat woods
You know someone who lost their viriginity in the flat woods
You remember when there was a rodeo on the 4th of July
You know why there isnt one any more and you think that it is stupid reason
You know what come on a Rufus burger, Rolie Burger, and an Acre Burger when you order it "all the way"
You remember 4 wheeling behind TG&Y
You remember for wheeling on the New Bypass while it was under construction
You remember when 421, 64, and 15-501 were 2 lanes
You had bottle rocket fights on mainstreet at night
You remember when Butners jewlers changed the alarm siren to just sound once and reset itself
You Know why Butners did this
You know at least 5 people that go by their nickname and you have no idea what their real name is, even though you went to school with them

More to come latter. Grin

When Mabe was the worst nightmare for a Superintendent, somehow they managed to take it to another level
with Hart (and I didn't even have a kid in school!).

VF1173 that list is from someone truly from the west side. Great memories there. I'll add this:

You know...when you spent Halloween egging in Goldston or the other option was seeing if the devil worshippers were at Carolina Hill and/or the Devil's Tramping Ground.

Thanks for all the memories - it sounds like there are a lot of really interesting stories to be told.  Keep them coming.

McCrimmons Drug Store for an Ice Cream Cone
Hanging out at Mr. Lemons Gulf Station everynight of the week!!
Sledding on the big hill behind Service Distributor (There and Salisbury street when they would close them.)
Riding to county line for a cold beer

Chathambred...so do I buddy...so do I. Lots of good memories there...

How about riding around the court house circle backwards?
Having the homecoming parade in downtown Pittsboro and no one claimed because traffic was stopped.
sock hops at the community building
taking dance lessons from Brenda Williams in the community building
Having dances in the Ag building...do the kids even have dances anymore..probably not.
The "pool hall" behind the bank downtown...oh yeah I wasn't supposed to go there..scratch that.  Roll Eyes
