CHAPEL HILL -- UNC Health Care System and Chatham Hospital have signed a letter of intent for UNC Health Care to purchase the 25-bed critical access facility in Siler City for $11.3 million.

UNC Health Care has been managing Chatham Hospital since 2006, Laura Clapp, chairwoman of the Chatham Hospital Board of Trustees, said in a news release.

UNC Health Care would acquire 100 percent control of Chatham Hospital and its assets by becoming the hospital’s sole corporate member. Chatham Hospital would remain a separate, tax-exempt corporation and licensed and certified operator of the facility. All current liabilities and long-term debt of Chatham Hospital will remain in place.

Me thinks a little more in depth explanation and details are needed here.

Speaking of the Chatham Hospital, saw this on another thread:

New Chatham Hospital To Hold Open House

SILER CITY, N.C. - The public is invited to view the new Chatham Hospital in Siler City on Sunday, July 20 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tours will be provided in English and Spanish.

This family-friendly event will feature a clown and a strolling Dixieland band. Kids can climb aboard UNC Air Care's helicopter and ambulance, as well as a fire truck.

The hospital is located in the Central County Business Campus, adjacent to the Super Wal-Mart at the intersection of U.S. 64 and U.S. 421.

I think this is great.  I am currently a UNC patient for both primary and specialty care.  In the future, if my family or I need emergent care or less than speciality care I will consider using Chatham hospital.  I assume that if they become a real part of UNC then they will have access to electronic medical records so all my information will be in one place.  I can potentially be seen in a less crowded enviroment and the quality of Chatham should improve.

the deal is done as far as i know, and i hope they do away with the board. you dont need one if the hospital is owned and managed by unc.
