My basis for my dislike of chatham hospital is very real and very personal. Something I do not wish to discuss or share on this board. The only thing I will say is they were willing to treat someone with a cold before someone bleeding badly.
You'd rather not discuss it but you did and I doubt it very seriously they would treat a cold before they would treat someone that was bleeding badly.  That is one of the main reasons those that go to Emergency Departments with colds end up waiting so long...they will never get priority.  I also doubt very seriously you were aware of the condition of all the other patients there that day.  I too have spent a little time at Chatham ER.  I counted 7 rooms, 1 doctor and 2 nurses.  From what I could detect, they took care of people mangled in a car wreck and someone having a heart attack to those who feel compelled to come there for a tick bite or nausea.  Not bad for a little place like that.  It is really easy to assume the worst when your expectations aren't met..I am guilty of that all too often as well...but keep in mind that sometimes our perception is not always reality.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triage

this is the definition of generally how patient priority is determined. It is not as willy nilly as you think.

thats more along the lines of how you are triaged by EMS.

black- dead
red- heart attack, stroke, multiple system trauma threathning your life.
yellow- could quickly become a red
green- everything else

in the ER, a different system is used. you are grouped by both the amount of resources you will use, and the severity of your case. its called an ESI level, or emergency severity index. it is used at most hospitals, unc and chatham included.

level 1- someone is pumping your chest
level 2- someone might very soon be pumping on your chest
level 3- belly pain, could need things such a abdominal imaging, labs, etc. someone who might have a spare rib hanging outta their leg.
level 4- someone who is just a little sicker than those who are not sick at all(most cases)
level 5- someone who has no business at the ER

this is a link to a very good tool to describe to the layman the meaning of triage, and how ESI works.

Going back a little for the young man who got injured on a dirt bike.  My daughter just told me a kid just plowed into the back of a tractor last night with his girlfriend on the back while riding his dirt bike.  He was killed, the girl survived with a broken neck

Not sure, my teen daughter Jordan just found out from Taylor in Moncure.  I'll try to find out more when she gets home.  Since summer vacation started, my teen is gone 90% of the time and just stops by to say hello once in a while Wink

There will be some medical offices associated with a local hospital to be located in the big bay opposite Carolina Brewery at Bellemont Station. That is all the developer is saying right now although an announcement is expected any day...possibly as soon as tomorrow. It will not be an emergency room, though.

some cvs locations do have minute clinics. they are very handy, and siler city could benefit from one. however i doubt it will happen due to the local political powers not wanting any competition for the hospital. and by the way, unc just purchased chatham hospital.
