the unique new developments that are coming to the County like Powell Place, Briar Chapel, etc.  they offer a lot more amenities than the other developments do and I can't wait until they get some better shopping options soon

I think natvrabit is trying to say he likes pirates! I didn't know there were pirates in Chatham County...guess they might be on that big ol' lake out there on 64.  Grin

(I'm just joking around, couldn't resist)

windsurfing across Jordan

biking Moore Mt Rd

hiking Haw

doing portraits of old farmhouses

kayaking the easy parts

long roads

the pottery

getting lost

cool mornings so quiet you wish it was longer

helping people

farmers market tomatoes

tryin' to keep track of all the musicians

gossiping

finding someone who does exactly what you need and bartering

the road to Carolina Beach

foxes

folk art

still thinking there's gold under there somewhere

cross country skiing when it snows

sheets of fog you can bike under

organic farms

hippies

diversity

loudest cicadas ever

found objects for sculptures

clyde's critters

museum quality pottery (david)

pta thrift stores

vestiges of the squirrel nut zippers

pick up soccer games

uncommon generosity

having to wave hello to strangers while driving

hush puppies with honey butter

then sweet tea to wash it down

not knowing the names of a lot of roads

just enough progress, like touch tone dialing, but not too much

figuring out what to do with the bridge in Bynum

getting in free to anything

Looks like the News and Observer is paying attention to what is going on at the Chatham Online Bulletin Board -

Chatham Chatlist: "What do you like about Chatham County?"
Submitted by mschultz on 07/22/2008 - 10:24

http://blogs.newsobserver.com/orangechat/chatham-chatlist-what-do-you-like-about-chatham-county

The Chatham Chatlist puts the rest of us blogs to shame. There is a beautiful thread on its Chatham County Online section. It asks simply "What Do You Like About Chatham County." Here's one response:

Seeing cows on my way to and from work.

Driving over Jordan Lake at sunrise.

Having three people say "good morning" to me between my getting out of the car and entering the grocery store - and I don't know any of them.

Having some kind of real conversation with clerks when I buy something.

The wood floors in the Southern States.

Slowing down behind someone on a tractor.

The elderly man who drove his horse and Amish buggy up our driveway last week "just to say hi" and welcome us to the neighborhood.

Interesting yard art.

That people always assume you want your tea sweet.

People who wave from their porch when you drive by.

Scarecrows and hanging tin pie pans in gardens.

Sitting outside on my porch, and the only thing I can hear is someone's donkey braying off in the distance, and birds.

Saving a hummingbird that got stuck in the barn, and then seeing it at our feeder every day.

At least you won't masqeurade as a doctor like Lyle Estill has apparently done at his book signing.

The key is to keep your mouth shut, so it won't be destroyed by influx.
