I scanned this thread, and didn't see any mention of the fresh-cut trees available through the Bynum General store.  Orders had to be in by Dec 1, and pickup at the store was on Dec 6.  When I trimmed the lower branches and re-cut the trunk, the sap was like crazy-glue between my fingers (extremely fresh, just as advertised!)   The tree also has a great shape.   Highly recommended!

UPDATE!

I surprised Dear Hubby with the tree we have been searching for!!!!  Found a perfect, still in the box, 4' Pom-Pom aluminum tree at the Sanford Antique Mall!  Fantastic price for the real deal folks!  Also nabbed an authentic early 1960's revolving MUSICAL tree stand!  $25  I saw it on eBay, without the music box, with a starting price of $110!

The final piece was the color wheel light.  Called every antique store between Greenville, NC and Asheboro with success in Asheboro. YAY!!

Soon as we get it all decorated I'll post pics!
