Yeah Kimmi, I hope the 1-7 continues. Makes a considerable difference. In the newsletter (in the tax bill), sounds like it will expand to all of the centers soon.  Good news.

You recycle first and then only weighed what went into the compactor.  The 1-7  is the best.
Any news on Cole Park center move?  I heard they were going to relocate down near Fearrington.  (disclaimer:  This is a RUMOR, heard from a worker at the center)

It's really the best way to encourage less garbage.

DKE, I am mixed on the weight thing. It is meant to encourage more recycling I am sure. But I am afraid with folks that don't recycle now (because they don't believe there is a need?), that those folks would start dumping in the ditches, burning etc.
Long time back I commented to one of the attendants about how busy the Cole Park Center was and how in the world it could handle the volume, once all the thousands of new homes came on board.  He told me then, either a larger center or a 2nd center in the area was already in the works. I have no current info tho'.

navvrabit...it actually indicated in the tax bills about the increase in the fee was to help pay for a new collection center that is/will be needed.  So I sort of read it as they are going to build a new one.

I would rather just pay it annually and be done wtih it.  I never have cash on hand-LOL

Kimmi, where did I say anything about cash on hand need Huh
I recycle anything they accept. I wish they took other things, like styrofoam when I end up with it from a boxed/packed purchases.
I take a pitiful, sometimes not even full sometimes, ONE garbage 32 qt. bag there once a week, because I also compost. I "fired" my garbage collector I had before the collection centers existed.

natvrabit-I wasn't talking to you about the cash on hand.  DKE had mentioned in NY they charge for the amount of weight versus than us who have a set fee per year.  I was saying I don't ever have cash on hand, so i would rather pay an annual fee and be done with it.

Natv, I too, recycle just about anything.  Course I can't yet recycle 1 - 7 plastics...I wonder when the "powers that be"
will make this option county-wide (guess they figure us "hayseeds" outside of the NE won't know the difference).
Styrofoam is a problem, except a couple of shippers I receive from use the "new" pellets that literally dissolve in water.

My real question is property evaluation.  While I respect Col. Totten, I have heard many horror stories concerning
reassessments and I'm awfully curious whether the general real estate values drop will be considered in next year's bills.
