Randy, glad to see this getting some serious attention.  However, as usual, our timing in Chatham is impeccable.  Just as we saw the radio tower temporary ban leave Chatham with spotty cell phone service for years b/c the companies quit building towers by the end of the ban, passing liquor by the drink now may help a few existing businesses, but the restaurant industry is about to undergo a substantial shrinkage with few or no new businesses coming online for the next few years because of economic concerns........so any benefits will be limited in the short term.
We could certainly use some all kinds of restaurants in North Chatham, but with rent so high, I can't see them coming anytime soon.  Governor's Village just lost the mailbox and has tons of empty space and land.  Looks like the garden and the freezer will continue to rein supreme in Chatham for the foreseeable future.  Given all the time some of us have away from work these days, I guess that's just fine.

Jesus turned water into wine and the Carolina Brewery turns Pittsboro's water into great beer. Perhaps after church on Sundays we should enjoy a cold one at the Brewery.  Grin

hard to say which is the greater miracle.

I always wondered why cell service is so bad north of Pittsboro, I thought for sure they put a new antenna on top of that new water tower

Nor I Vaheel, cell phone problems. I live in a pine "thicket" and mine works fine. I rarely have a dropped call in the surrounding area either. Though I know some "holes" exist. The company I work for has "found" some of those pockets while on site.

Either one of you use Alltel?  That is what I have and I don't notice very many problems.

Is LBD being considered only as a solution to a problem? And, is that the only reason why it is being considered? No. Increased tax revenue and an additional profit stream for existing businesses are only perks. Practically everywhere else on EARTH you can get a drink at a restaurant. So, why should we deny ourselves a simple pleasure?
