I will take that challenge and I hope everyone else will also....we could really help store up the pantry with this crowd of posters.

WOW! Thanks for directing all this positive energy and support to older folks in need throughout Chatham County. We have between 30 and 40 people on the Christmas giving tree and it would be so fantastic, do so much good for their health and their sense of being a part of the community, to deliver a box of good nutrition to go along with the gifts. It would also be wonderful to be able to offer food to the people who come in for help with their utility and prescription bills.

Thanks, Meg, for issuing the challenge. We'll keep some sort of tally to let all of you know the impact you are making.

Please let me know when you stop by so I can thank you! Or let the receptionists know you "read it on the CCOBB."

Peace,
Angel

Spread the word, is the best thing I can say! It's tight times for many. I'm not affluent, but it's a JOY to give what you can.

I pray this draws a better crowd than the NW gym clean up day did.  I'm so thankful and proud of the GIRLS who came and worked hard.

I'm bumping this because I don't want it out of sight out of mind.

The weather turns cold next week, our seniors will have to use grocery money to pay those heating bills this winter.

Hoping the food is coming in the door as I type this.

Maybe Gene will post this somewhere central that grabs attention so everyone who posts will know about it. It's a great idea, and I'm sure people will want to participate.

Possibly your "Thanksgiving Challenge" could be posted as the top thread in each category for the next week and a half (unless there's a better place).

Since it's voluntary and anonymous, it's not like employer arm-twisting that puts people on the spot.

The stores had some great deals this week on canned veggies, fruit and soups. That along with some canned salmon, mac and cheese other nonperishables. I took 2 bags to COA yesterday. They were most appreciative.

Hey, bump this and hope folks are taking the challenge to heart, especially with the holiday coming up.

Angel?  Are you seeing anyone or are we just blowing smoke here?

I have not taken mine yet but I am going to "hit up" my kids tomorrow night at the birthday dinner...i just got out of hospital yesterday so I am running behind on my gathering....too much going on these days...that is 3 times in less than 2 months.  I am tired of this junk.

More good deals in the grocery adds this week. Doing BOGO items is a great way to increase the volume one can donate!

Meg,
I think the number of people who have dropped food off stands at 8, including the boxes you very kindly provided and the donation by Chuck and his daughter. All the donations have been very generous. And the Young Life group continues to bring a couple of bags of food every week. Thanks to all of you who have continued to keep the issue of hunger among older adults in Chatham on your shopping lists.

We're very concerned about this span of very cold weather. The requests for assistance with fuel and heating bills has been triple last year's requests, and that was before the temp dropped.

Choosing between heat and food...imagine that for a moment.

Thanks again for all your support.

Angel
